-July started with a haul lookbook about new colorful clothings. At midsummer festival we decided to be in our summerhouse and there was so much Jani´s mom old clothing she said we can throw away or keep. I took a bag full of new autumn goodies with me. This pumped me up with colorful clothing. I don´t even mind some of the clothes are broken, I patch them up or keep them as they are. Some reason I like the fray and torn up look. Now I am in love with all of the fall colors: red, orange, yellow, green and brown. I after many years, I am not afraid of using color in my outfits. Finally, they make me happy, like clothing should do.

-I started a challenge to draw or paint for 31 days, but this lasted only 8 days until I forgot to do it. Damn it. But I made many paintings that I really like and I think I improved my skills a bit. I really love the girl with the moon and sun jacket, I used my golden pen for it, it shines so lovely.

-I found new Youtube channels, mainly Van life based. I started obsessing about it. Now I have dream to have my own van and travel across Finland and maybe even in other countries.

-I made my first sketchbook tour, this was so exiting thing to do. I have 2 other ones coming up.

-I was in a party at our workplace. It was such a fun night. So much dancing.

-I was at the friends wedding. It was epic day. Again, so much dancing, drinking and oh so much fun. Best wedding I have ever been. I also had a fake fur jacket which I used the whole night. I got questions like: "Are you goth?" and "Are you a witch? Aren´t witches bad?" But I had my game face on.

Disa

-Lumous. Again, an amazing experience. Best time I have had in this year and I got to have my best friends with me.

- I had an awesome hike.

-I got bucket full of flowers from my friend. Our bedroom smelled like a flower shop for a week. I even decorated my altar (you can see the old altar in the picture) in totally new one because the flowers.

-And here is my new altar with all the stuff I got from pagan market at Tampere I went with Laura.

-I went for a date. Sadly I didn´t take picture of the food or my outfit, both looked awesome btw. But my outfit will probably be in my upcoming lookbook of my summer style.

-For our 6th wedding anniversary, we went to our summerhouse and had oh so much good food, drink, sauna and because I have a thing for cleaning at the moment, I did some cleaning too.

Before and after

Best dinner in our summer house ever

I have started to collect some light blue, turquoise and light green items in our summerhouse. I really love those colors, but now at home. This is awesome way to show my colorful side and enjoy it in a place where I am so happy.

Lughnasadh 2018

Lughnasadh, also known as Lúnasa, Lùnastal, Luanistyn or Lammas, is a Gaelic festival of the first harvest, which also corresponds with other European early harvest festivals. It is held on the 1st of August, halfway between the Summer Solstice (Litha) and the Autumn Equinox (Mabon).

The festival is named after the Celtic god Lugh, and part of the festival is often offering some of the first harvest’s bounty in gratitude, and feasting or athletic competitions. Historically, journeys to sacred wells or holy shrines, or climbing mountains or hills have been popular, and in some places are still observed. Lugh is often seen as a personification of the first harvest, or the corn itself, and he is sometimes recast as folkloric figures such as John Barleycorn.

Lughnasadh colours: gold, orange, yellow, green, light brown

Today´s outfit:
All thrifted except the knee socks, they are from H&M
Everything here is my actual favorites at the moment.

This Lughnasadh was super special to me. Week early I planned what to eat and we cook together, it was so homey. I also wanted to have special outfit, make my altar, clean the whole house and do stuff that I planned. I also read a lot of info that I even didn´t know and now I want to share them with you. Some reason, in many years I haven´t celebrated this Sabbath but I guess, now I am taking it back, and more! I am planning to celebrate the whole month and until Mabon. I have baked 3 breads, cleaned everyday (this still seems endless because I have so much stuff) and I have obsession about my closet, I need to declutter it this autumn so I can have piece of mind.. and I can make a closet tour. Finally.

Lughnasadh foods: Bread, corn, soup, root vegetables, berries, mead, rice, barely, nuts, seasonal fruits, roasted meats, honey, beer

Blueberry pie

"Similar to the Roman god Mercury, Lugh is known as a god of both skill and the distribution of talent.  He is a patron of the arts and a skilled warrior.
The Book of Invasions tells us that Lugh came to be associated with grain in Celtic mythology after he held a harvest fair in honor of his foster mother, Tailtiu. This day became August 1, and that date ties in with the first grain harvest in agricultural societies in the Northern Hemisphere. In fact, in Irish Gaelic, the word for August is lunasa. Lugh is honored with corn, grains, bread, and other symbols of the harvest. This holiday was called Lughnasadh (pronounced Loo-NA-sah). Later, in Christian England the date was called Lammas, after the Saxon phrase hlaf maesse, or “loaf mass.“"

"Lughnasadh is a festival called by many names as it is celebrated throughout the Pan-Celtic cultures. One of the names that has been documented in Ireland is Brón Trogaill, from Tochmarc Emire. Máire MacNeill in her book The Festival of Lughnasa tells us that  Brón Trogaill is understood to mean “Earth’s sorrows” giving the strong implication of a woman in childbirth.  Brón is a word with the meaning of “sorrow, grief, grieving, lamentation; distress, burden” and is also used in phrases like ro and brónbríg, “ weakened sorrows’ force” and brón déisi ag dathaghadh,  “harvest’s gloom.”  In  Tochmarc Emire Trogam is said to mean “earth” and on eDIL it is defined as “body” and the root of the word Trog is defined as “parturition or offspring”"

"The most well known story associated with the festival is that of Lugh’s foster mother Tailtiu. We’re told in Lebor Gabála Érenn, “the Book of the Taking of Ireland,” that Tailtiu was the daughter of a king of Spain and the wife of Eochaidh mac Eric, who was the last Fir Bolg king in Ireland. After the battles between the Fir Bolg and Tuatha Dé Danann she survived and went on to foster Lugh. We know very little about her as a person but she was honored by her foster son with the funeral games, Áenach Tailteann, after she died in a noble sacrifice to clear the plains of Ireland for agricultural purposes.

These funeral games are what we enjoy now. People would come together for everything from; horse racing, feats of strength, reciting poetry, marriage ceremonies, trading, feasting, judgments, divorces, etc. The whole community would be under a truce while the festival was carried out, it likely lasted about a week."

"By Lughnasadh, The Sun God has already begun his downward journey, facing now toward the dark frosts of Winter. The Goddess, however, never wanes. She simply changes appearance. At Lughnasadh, She wears a face of exquisite abundance.

During the season of high Summer the bounty of our planet is in full swing. We reap the benefits of fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. This is a time when most of us experience exceptionally good health and robust living.

Lughnasadh marks the last heyday of the Sun God. Beneath the Barley Moon and Summer stars we, too, enjoy the expiring passions of the season. Marriages are often entered into at Lughnasadh as well as at Midsummer, and as Robert Burns tells us, it is a “happy night” that he spends among the cornfields with his lover. Lughnasadh is a tome when the symbolic aspects of the life-sustaining elements of grain spill over into every part of life."

Magical Herbs

"Lughnasadh marks a turning point in the Earth’s life cycle. Although Summer is hot and bountiful, more visible signs of the Sun’s waning strength lie just around the corner in Autumn’s fallen leaves. During this time of year, Witches use herbs to bring good fortune and abundance in their cooking, healing, potions, and spellwork. All grains, seeds, herbs, and flowers gathered now can be dried for later use during Winter or for decorating the altars of future Sabbats. Like herbs, grains are considered sacred and should be harvested with a magically charged “golden” sickle."

"In many regions in the northern hemisphere, Lughnasadh is berry-picking time. In the British Isles, bilberries are particularly plentiful. Gathering bilberries at Lughnasadh is an ancient ritual that has bearing upon the Summertime harvest as a whole. If the bilberries are bountiful, the crops will be plentiful. Just about every herb, flower, and grain reaches its peak of color, flavor, and magical potency in Summer. Garlic is a particularly versatile herb that is used for protection against negative energy and to cleanse and purify the body. Marigold helps us to communicate with Faeries and increase psychic ability. Moss is for financial gain, and at Lughnasadh vervain is used for wealth as well as protection.

During this season of marriages, yarrow is a common ingredient in wedding gift philtres and oils for love and union. Hops, used in flavoring beer and ale, favorite Lughnasadh beverages, are also good for sleeping and healing. Witches make healing compresses and teas from comfrey to enhance the healing of broken bones, scrapes, and bruises."

Following is a list of herbs to use in your magic during the Lughnasadh season:

Golden rod, nasturtium, clover blossom, yarrow, heliotrope, boneset, vervain, Queen Anne’s Lace, myrtle, rose, peony, sunflower, poppy, milkweed, Irish moss, mushroom, wheat, corn, rye, oat, barley, rice, garlic, onion, basil, mint, aloe, acacia, meadowsweet, apple leaf, raspberry leaf, strawberry leaf, bilberry leaf, blueberry leaf, mugwort, hops, holly, comfrey, marigold, grape vine, ivy, hazelnut, black thorn, elder, bee pollen, Magical Stones

"Our imaginations can easily be taken in by the magical charms of stones. They are simple enough in themselves, yet we watch and touch and remember, sometimes brooding upon their eternal composition. Witches believe that stones, despite their seeming lack of animation, are objects of wisdom and great positive energy and, like water, are one of the purest of all of Nature’s forms. For untold centuries we have paid attention to the effect of light on form. The geometric forms of crystals reveal fresh new perspectives that aid us in preparing for the future.

At Lughnasadh, as at all the Sabbats, we affirm the time-honored importance of stones as our friends. In addition to prosperity and growth, we seek confidence to face what lies ahead and a strengthening of our bond with Nature. The constancy of each individual stone on Earth centers on a mystical kind of compressed raw energy. Stones contain dynamic qualities and to us they exhibit a magical sensibility seemingly at odds with their concreteness. Within the core of each lies imprisoned, like the Young God himself, the concentrated, exquisite spirit of energy and light. Realizing these truths about about the magic of stones is particularly helpful during this turning point on the Wheel of the Year, when we straddle Lughnasadh’s amazing paradox of abundance and loss."

Following is a list of stones to use in your Lughnasadh magic:

Cat’s-eye, golden topaz, obsidian, moss agate, rhodochrosite, clearquartz, marble, slate, granite, lodestone, amber, citrine, aventurine, peridot

Ideas for Lughnasadh celebrations:

-Bake bread! Baking bread is one of the most traditional ways of celebrating this festival, and the first of the grains have been harvested. Consider baking different types of loaves, experiment with plaiting the dough or drawing designs on the top. Add seasonal berries, nuts or seeds to the dough to add flavour and interest. I make different kind of bread every time, I am trying to find the perfect way to make bread.

-Have a picnic with friends and family – with lots of bread! I went a picnic with Anna, it was awesome.

-Just go outside and enjoy the nature.

-Play games with friends or family
-Make a donation of food to your local food bank or donate money to a charity
-Hold your own Lughnasnadh ritual, light a fire and offer some food to the god Lugh and thank him for your harvest, and feel gratitude in knowing that all your efforts are coming to fruition
-Make corn dollies, instructions for lots of interesting designs can be found online, or make sculptures and decorations out of salt dough
-Light a candle and make a list of all that you are thankful for, and meditate upon this
-Go on a foraging trip, look for early apples, plums, berries and edible fungi (ensure you are certain of what you are harvesting before you eat it!)
-Dress to impress!
-As summer winds to a close and autumn approaches, make crafts and decorations for your home that celebrate the outdoors and the gifts of nature.
-A unique wearable craft would be a harvested wheat crown!
-The season from late summer to the middle of fall is often a season of heightened energy for those who identify with the warrior soul.  Meditations focusing on courage, physical strength, dexterity, and valor would be a great way to honor your inner warrior.
-Clean and change your bed sheets. It´s amazing feeling to sleep and smell clean sheets.

A for Augury Witch

Augury Witch: Similar to a shaman in practice, the augury witch will help to direct those on a spiritual quest by interpreting the signs and symbols the traveler encounters. The term derives from the official Roman augurs, whose function was not to foretell the future but to discover whether or not the gods approved of a proposed course of action by interpreting signs or omen such as the appearance of animals sacred to the gods. It is important to note that augury witches are not "fortune tellers", as their gifts are of prophecy and not divination. In the context of prophecy, in his Scottish play Shakespeare's witches appear as augury witches.

Time to continue my Types of witches- series!
When I started to plan this post I had this huge idea for pictures with this shaman kind lady and snakes. My friend have snakes so I asked her if we could do a photoshoot with them and she said yes. Unfortunately snakes want to do what they want and the pictures ended up not happening.. But atleast I got this picture with amazing head piece made by Mhelin.

And what comes with Augury witches.. I never had even heard the term before, so this was a huge opportunity to learn something new. The info was really hard to find and there was very little. I really enjoy the idea of these prophecy witches. I would have wanted to make something more with this but I guess this is it. Enjoy!

The Roman term ‘augurs’ stands for someone whose task is to find out whether the gods approve of a particular course of action taken by an individual. These witches can find this out by interpreting sacred signs and omens that the individual has encountered on their spiritual journey. An Augury Witch can thus check whether the traveller is on the ‘right path.’ It’s important to distinguish an Augury Witch from a Witch who performs divination and tells prophecies – an Augury Witch is an interpreter between the mysterious cosmic forces and a person on a spiritual quest.

Usually, it was performed using the movements of birds and other animals or the direction of thunder or lightening.  The main purpose of augury was not to predict the future but to determine whether the gods approved certain actions.  Therefore, it is similar to divination but different in that it doesn’t predict the future, rather it is done to advise an individual on a spiritual journey.

Augurs were advised in important decisions regarding commerce, trade, and religion.  Their opinions were highly valued so much so that they were consulted before matters of war and peace.  It appears that some augurs (augures publici) dealt with only public and state matters.  Unfortunately, the exact rites the augurs used was kept in extreme secret at the time, and therefore records of their exact methods are unknown today.

A witch who focuses on signs from the gods (especially the appearances and behaviors of sacred animals) could identify as an augur.  Also, a modern augur could provide a unique system for developing prophecy through interpreting symbols and omens.  This might best suit a witch who takes pleasure in giving advice to others and helping people formulate plans of action.  Perhaps, a witch who is looking to branch out from divination might enjoy to develop a system of augury..

During a storm, sit quietly and think of an important action you intend to take.  If thunder or lightening appears to come from your left, it is an omen that the gods support the action.  If the storm hits on the right: beware!

What about me?

Past few months I have been just playing games. I have forgot myself, who I am. Don´t get me wrong, I love playing games, specially BDO at the moment, but I haven´t had any time (or want), to do anything else. I have seen few of my bestest friends lately and they all seem to say the same thing (they know me too well and notice stuff that even I don´t), that I have been lost lately and not feeling that good.

It is mostly because of my depression phase, but let´s face it, I haven´t really been fighting towards the light that much. And suddenly I realize, after my friend saying, if you feel good, you feel good and when you don´t, you just don´t. It may seem very clear but I really needed to hear it and I realized what it meant. Damn, I really need to fight for my happiness. And also enjoy my happiness. I just can´t stay where I am at the moment, I need to live my life, how I dream of it to be. I have all the tools for it to happen, I just need to put some effort to it.

You can see the forgetting part from my chaos home, my never ending to do list, not finishing anything, even my hair is all gloomy and doesn´t have the happy color anymore. I actually wanted to dye it back to black, because I just don´t feel that colorful anymore. But I want to be the colorful me.

I have had so many plans about the future and got so stressed about it I forgot the most important thing of all. We live at the present. And as the word says, we should care about it, like a gift, not throw it away. I miss being me, like one of my other friend said, I too, miss the laughing Leena.

I didn´t find my last post about the happy real me, so few pictures may be the same, but heck, let´s just see what kind of person I really am and I hope my real true self made somebody else feel happy, because that is my true life goal, make people around me happy.

I feel happier already for watching all the happy memories I have been trough over the years. 2008 and 2009 there weren´t a lot of happy pictures because I was so sick. But every year there are more and more smiling Leena. I feel happy to see the progress in my life. All the pictures are from 2005 to this year. It was a hard choice to choose which friend pictures to put in, I smile in every last one of them. So here is few and if you see yourself and not want to include yourself in the post, please say it to me.

Be happy, be you.
Blessed be my dears.

B for Bone Witch

  • Bone - Witches who commonly collect, clean, and use animal bones in their magickal practice, and for things like altar decoration or magick-infused charms/jewelry. Materials used by those who identify as Bone witches are usually collected peacefully or after the being has passed on naturally!

Animal bones has a big effect on my life. I even have my own cabinet of curiosities. They are beautiful and reminds me of life and death. I think bones are art that Mother Nature makes, just like flowers and most beautiful landscapes. I want to gather museum like home to myself, be surrounded by bones and dried herbs, it just makes me happy and my home feels cozy for me. I am happy that my husband doesn´t think it´s weird or too macabre. Some visitors have been either terrified or super exited. Normally my friends think it´s just me and they don´t think about that much. I also use bones in jewelry and at my altar. I use them to connect to deities more easily.

Animal bones are great way to connect with spirit animals. You can use smoke and use your energy to have a better connection to the spirit you are trying to get trough. You can also hold the energy in bones, some say you don´t need to charge them so often. You can use them as jewelry or carry around like other talismans, in a little pouch in your purse or pocket. You can also use a bottle if you like.

Pig and moose skull

Chicken bones and little bones in bottles.

Meditation altar with animal bones and crystals, to help me concentrate.

Using as wards you need to be confident that the bones are cleansed and their energy is flowing. Then you can use smoke cleansing, sigils, herbs and the elements. You can bury the bones or hang them inside or outside, like in trees etc.

First dreamcatcher I made. I used feathers and bones in it.

Other uses for bones are Osteomancy, divination (link included at the end), use bones on your wand, sigil amplifier, you can enchant them. You can include them as your craft, like in your dreamcatchers. or make a wind chimes type of craft and hang it inside or outside your house. And please remember to collect your bones in a way that does not include animal cruelty. You find plenty even remembering by honoring the nature and all it´s beings.

Rather than making wand, you can paint a vertebrae with sigils pertinent to your craft and embedded a quartz point in the bone to hold in hand and gain energy for spellwork.  Where from

Raccoon dog skull I found at my summerhouse 2 years ago.

My wolf skull tattoo.
Moose antlers

Cat skull painting I made few years back. It is still unfinished.
My deer skull tattoo, made by Chaosink. Deer represent a God to me in my witchcraft.
Bone jewelry and feathers
Home decor in kitchen
So.. as you can see, bones means a lot to me and I never stop collecting them and I use them more and more in my witchcraft. I just love the pure and calm energy they have and how beautiful they are. So I definately, I am a bone witch to the core.

And at the end, here is a viking song for you I have listened like a thousand times lately. The music video is so beautiful too. I can´t wait for their full album to come next year at January! They are just so epicly cool I can´t handle it.

Throwing the bones-How to make and use a bone set

Blessed be my darklings.

May the rains sweep gentle across your fields.
May the sun warm the land.
May every good seed you have planted bear fruit.
And late summer find you standing in fields of plenty.
—  Irish blessing

  • Celtic - Magickal practice that is based from the Celtic culture, including its’ mythology, deities, old ways, and (occasionally) language / symbols. May also describe those who only worship Celtic gods.

Horned God and Mother Goddess, Triple Goddess, loving the earth, elements, fairies.. I love all of it, it is so basic me. Even when I was very little I was so intrigued by everything Celtic, the history, the magic, the people. How I use Celtic witchcraft in my own craft? Well, I meditate while listening Celtic music, I watch movies based on it, every Sabbath I remember Celtic Gods and Goddesses and many deities. I also wear jewellery, I often go to the woods and just be there in silence or just go for a walk. I have been obsessed in all Celtic stuff past year because I just didn´t know how I want to present this post and this has been taking way too long now.

Few of my favorite Goddesses:

Badb (Irish) - A shape-shifting, warrior goddess who symbolises life and death, wisdom and inspiration. She is an aspect of Morrigan.
Branwen (Welsh) – The Welsh goddess of love. Her name means “blessed raven.” Bronwyn is a modern day version of this name.
Brigid (Irish) – This fire goddess’s name means “bright arrow.” Her myths spread into England and Scotland where she is known as Brigantia and Bride respectively. The modern name Bridget derives from this popular triple goddess.

Brigid In the Kitchen - Traditional Prayer

Brigid, bless the things I create
And the things I did not create:
Honey from the hive,
Milk from the cow,
Salt from the sea.

Cerridwen  (Irish) – Keeper of the cauldron, goddess of the moon, magic, agriculture, poetry, music, art and science. Her name means “chiding love.” Other common spellings of her name include Cerridwen, Caridwen and Keridwen.
Maeve (Irish) – A warrior queen.
Morrigan  (Ireland) - A terrifying crow goddess associated with war and death. She is queen of phantoms, demons, shape-shifters and witches
Rhiannon, who was chased by mortals who could never catch her because her horse moved magically fast. And then one of them begged her to stop and she did, saying it would have been much better for his horse if he had asked before. Rhiannon loves music, and she has birds flying around her head whose song can lure dead people back to life.

Devotional acts for The Morrigan

-Listen to a song that reminds you of her
-Paint your nails black or red while thinking of her
-Dedicate your cigarette smoke to her while you’re smoking
-Light some incense for her (for example, dragonblood incense)
-Share the meal you’re eating
-Pour some red wine for her
-Look up some fun facts about crows
-Change your phone background in an image of her
-Draw or paint her
-Do some scrying
-Watch a documentary about the Celts
-Meditate while focusing on her energy
-Cleanse her altar (if you have one for her)
-Write down a prayer
-Light a black candle
-Make a jar for her
-Write something about her in your book of shadows/grimoire
-Do a tarot reading to understand her better
-Go into the woods and when you’re alone scream at the top of your lungs
-Just scream
-Keep screaming

King Arthur: The Legend of the Sword

Celtic witchcraft has as its basis a strong sense of spirituality and a love of the earth. Central to this love are the Goddesses and Gods, who play a strong role in Celtic worship. The Celtic religion recognises two main deities; the Earth Mother Goddess and the Horned God. But Celtic Wiccans also worship many other minor deities who each represent specific qualities important to Celtic individuals. Celtic worshippers celebrate the same Sabbaths, perform rituals and magic, and have a strong faith in their spirituality, just like any member of the Craft. The main differences between Celtic witchcraft and other forms of the Craft is that with Celts, magic is everywhere. Magic is woven into their jewellery, their tattoos and all their artwork and everyday items such as clothing and cutlery.

The Druids are the religious leaders of the Celtic people, the wise and magical priests and priestesses whose special blend of wisdom and magic provided a powerful role model for all the Celtic people. The Druidic priesthood was originally all-female, which male initiates only becoming accepted after many years.

According to Laurie Cabot, Druidesses were divided into three levels, or classes: the highest class were celibate and lived in convents, and were eventually assimilated into Christianity as nuns. The other two levels could be married and lived either with their husbands, or in the temples. With the onset of Christianity these wise women were called witches.

Spirituality is of primary import to Celts, and their devotion to the earth, their goddesses and gods and the effort which they put into their worship is proof of their highly spiritual nature. Although the names of the deities worshipped and the titles of the Sabbats may be different to other Pagan practices, despite the regional dialects which occur in the Celtic rituals, there are strong similarities between Celtic witchcraft and Wicca practiced elsewhere on the globe.
In Celtic witchcraft, rituals honor the essential elements of earth, air, fire and water, and the deities that personify them. Rituals are held in honor of the seasons, the Sabbats and to celebrate auspicious moments in pagan history. Numbers are extremely important to the Celts, with three, five, seven, nine and thirteen holding special significance. Therefore it is auspicious to repeat rituals or affirmations a specific number of times.

Mists of Avalon

Ritual is vital for Celtic magic. The wearing of ceremonial robes, the burning of incense and candles, and the tools on the ceremonial altar - all play an important role in setting the scene for magic. Magic is an often overused term, but those in the Craft know that it works. With spellcraft one can practice and see the results of magic, constantly gaining strength with each day that passes.

Candle magic was greatly favored by the Celts, although they preferred tallow lamps and bonfires using specific woods to modern candles we use today. Candle rituals are specific to the individual, but there are a few simple rules to follow unless the ritual specifies otherwise. To perform a spell to increase or obtain, burn during a waxing moon (the period leading up to the full moon). To decrease or remove, burn during a waning moon (the period after the full moon).

Use candles of a specific color relevant to your spell. Anoint the candle with incense or oil, working from bottom to top for a spell to increase or from top to bottom for a spell to remove. You may also wish to each words, such as your desires or the name of the deity to whom you are appealing, along the side of the candle to strengthen the purpose of the spell. When performing a ritual with a candle, unless otherwise stipulated, allow the candle to burn out to the end.

Next time: Ceremonial Witch

Ceremonial Witch: Witches who combines both the practices of witchcraft and ceremonial magic, though they are more spiritually centered than most ceremonial magicians. Ceremonial witches are very exacting in the performance of ritual and their rituals are usually followed by the book, to the letter and with much ceremony. They may use a combination of various mystical disciplines drawn from the Old Ways, but will often incorporate scientific approaches such as sacred mathematics and quantum mysticism as well.  They will call upon a eclectic band of spiritual entities, leaning towards archetypal figures representative of the energies they wish to manifest.

Specific tools, high magick, wealthy people with clear will in mind, lots and lots of mystical and very old occult symbols trough time. Those who got the chance to practice ceremonial magick, signed an oath and studied hard. With this post I wanted to share mostly how ceremonial magick works, finding the ways how to combine both witchcraft and ceremonial magick was really hard. I have been doing research the whole day and I think I have only touch the surface. This seem highly interesting way to study and use magic. I am not that ceremonial myself, I do my ritual when ever I feel like and this probably wouldn´t be my thing. Study thing interests me a lot though, maybe I buy more books and do my own type of thing reading and doing my notes. Maybe even doing more magic/paranormal/occult related posts in my blog.

“…the Magi were  holy men, who, setting themselves apart from everything else on this earth, contemplated the divine virtues and understood the divine nature of the gods and spirits, the more clearly; and so, initiated others into the same mysteries, which consist in one holding an uninterrupted intercourse with these invisible beings during life.”
— H.P. Blavatsky, Isis Unveiled

How witchcraft and ceremonial magick are different:

Definition
Ceremonial magick is also known as high magick or learned magick.  It is a system using long, formal rituals and using multiple ritual tools.  Ceremonial witchcraft is often influenced by Hermetic, Thelma, and Western Esoteric practices.  Often times a practitioner of ceremonial magick may refer to themselves as a magickian.  Although ceremonial practitioners perform a variety of rituals, there seems to be a special connection between ceremonial magick and the spirit world.

Historic Context
The earliest discussion of the term ‘ceremonial magic(k)’ can be found in the 16th century to describe medieval grimoires and techniques.  Heinrich Cornelius  Agrippa, a German occult writer, understood there to be a division between natural magick (astrology, alchemy, and modern natural sciences)  and ceremonial magick (communing with spirits, necromancy, formal ritual).  He approved of the natural techniques but found ceremonial magick to be sinful.  The most recent revival of ceremonial magick was partly caused by the writings of Aleister Crowley.

Modern Context
There are many practitioners who work solely with ceremonial magick and/or who identify as ceremonial magickians/witches/practitioners.  Others, simply use ceremonial magick as inspiration either for their practice as a whole or individual spells and rituals. Such witches might identify as eclectic.

Try it
Take some time to write your own spell or ritual with ceremonial elements including a plan, collected supplies, and formal verbal ques.

CEREMONIAL magic is the ancient art of invoking and controlling spirits by a scientific application of certain formulæ. A magician, enveloped in sanctified vestments and carrying a wand inscribed with hieroglyphic figures, could by the power vested in certain words and symbols control the invisible inhabitants of the elements and of the astral world.

While the elaborate ceremonial magic of antiquity was not necessarily evil, there arose from its perversion several false schools of sorcery, or black magic.

Egypt, a great center of learning and the birthplace of many arts and sciences, furnished an ideal environment for transcendental experimentation. Here the black magicians of Atlantis continued to exercise their superhuman powers until they had completely undermined and corrupted the morals of the primitive Mysteries. By establishing a sacerdotal caste they usurped the position formerly occupied by the initiates, and seized the reins of spiritual government. Thus black magic dictated the state religion and paralyzed the intellectual and spiritual activities of the individual by demanding his complete and unhesitating acquiescence in the dogma formulated by the priestcraft. The Pharaoh became a puppet in the hands of the Scarlet Council–a committee of arch-sorcerers elevated to power by the priesthood.

These sorcerers then began the systematic destruction of all keys to the ancient wisdom, so that none might have access to the knowledge necessary to reach adeptship without first becoming one of their order. They mutilated the rituals of the Mysteries while professing to preserve them, so that even though the neophyte passed through the degrees he could not secure the knowledge to which he was entitled. Idolatry was introduced by encouraging the worship of the images which in the beginning the wise had erected solely as symbols for study and meditation. False interpretations were given to the emblems and figures of the Mysteries, and elaborate theologies were created to confuse the minds of their devotees. The masses, deprived of their birthright of understanding and groveling in ignorance, eventually became the abject slaves of the spiritual impostors. Superstition universally prevailed and the black magicians completely dominated national affairs, with the result that humanity still suffers from the sophistries of the priestcrafts of Atlantis and Egypt.

Fully convinced that their Scriptures sanctioned it, numerous mediæval Qabbalists devoted their lives to the practice of ceremonial magic. The transcendentalism of the Qabbalists is founded upon the ancient and magical formula of King Solomon, who has long been considered by the Jews as the prince of ceremonial magicians.

Among the Qabbalists of the Middle Ages were a great number of black magicians who strayed from the noble concepts of the Sepher Yetzirah and became enmeshed in demonism and witchcraft. They sought to substitute magic mirrors, consecrated daggers, and circles spread around posts of coffin nails, for the living of that virtuous life which, without the assistance of complicated rituals or submundane creatures, unfailingly brings man to the state of true individual completion.

Those who sought to control elemental spirits through ceremonial magic did so largely with the hope of securing from the invisible worlds either rare knowledge or supernatural power. The little red demon of Napoleon Bonaparte and the infamous oracular heads of de Medici are examples of the disastrous results of permitting elemental beings to dictate the course of human procedure. While the learned and godlike dæmon of Socrates seems to have been an exception, this really proves that the intellectual and moral status of the magician has much to do with the type of elemental he is capable of invoking. But even the dæmon of Socrates deserted the philosopher when the sentence of death was passed.

Transcendentalism and all forms of phenomenalistic magic are but blind alleys–outgrowths of Atlantean sorcery; and those who forsake the straight path of philosophy to wander therein almost invariably fall victims to their imprudence. Man, incapable of controlling his own appetites, is not equal to the task of governing the fiery and tempestuous elemental spirits.

Many a magician has lost his life as the result of opening a way whereby submundane creatures could become active participants in his affairs.

When Eliphas Levi invoked the spirit of Apollonius of Tyana, what did he hope to accomplish? Is the gratification of curiosity a motive sufficient to warrant the devotion of an entire lifetime to a dangerous and unprofitable pursuit? If the living Apollonius refused to divulge his secrets to the profane, is there any probability that after death he would disclose them to the curious-minded? Levi himself did not dare to assert that the specter which appeared to him was actually the great philosopher, for Levi realized only too well the proclivity of elementals to impersonate those who have passed on.

The majority of modern mediumistic apparitions are but elemental creatures masquerading through bodies composed of thought substance supplied by the very persons desiring to behold these wraiths of decarnate beings.

Chaos/Chaotic - A type of magick utilizing new, non-traditional, and unorthodox methods. It is a new and highly individualistic practice, while still drawing from other common forms of magick.

My research for Chaos majick or Chaos witches has took me to longest this far. Didn´t know much about it, everywhere I looked, there was a totally different approach of it. So just imagine, I was super confused. What the hell is this thing? Can´t they explain it the way I would understand it? Then I decided to watch few videos about it from Youtube (witchcraft in Youtube is strong!). After the videos I actually interviewed few Chaos witches and all became finally clear. Actually the practice is really simple. There is few things that I realize it has and yet again, like every Chaos witch, I say, this is just my point of view.

2010-2013

-First of all what became clear to me, is the dogmatism, it´s really strong with the idea of "viewpoint or system of ideas based on insufficiently examined premises." Basically, nothing may be true, you need to find more resources to back the "facts" or opinions and learn learn learn. This is the reason why every Chaos witch say the different thing, we all have different approaches and ideas and because you can do your stuff and do your magick the way you want... This may be confusing to some (like to me in the beginning).

-Nothing is written on the stone, you can pick what ever floats your boat and make your magick, the outcome work. Many Chaos witch may use book of shadows or journals to write the whole process down or even revolve with different starting points and add them to their studies. What premises help you to achieve your goal the best?

-You can change your mind at any point.

2014-2016

-Chaos witches are very good at their technical experiences. Because all the learning and analyzing about everything, they became very (with no other words in my mind) officiant the things they do. So actually, chaos magick isn´t chaotic at all, it is very straight and in place at all time. Only thing that may seem chaotic, is the process to getting there for seen, nothing is certain.

-Deconditioning. Totally new word to me, but it means (very psychologically) that our ego and everything that includes us to think who we are, need to be kind of re-programmed. You don´t need to think you are everything that has happened to you, that those things are the only thing you are. You can wide your self-image; who you are is up to you. How much do you want to enjoy life and be the better you.

"Our ego is a fiction of stable self-hood which maintains itself by perpetuating the distinctions of ‘what I am/what I am not, what I like/what I don’t like’, beliefs about ones politics, religion, gender preference, degree of free will, race, subculture etc all help maintain a stable sense of self, whilst the little ways in which we pull against this very stability allows us to feel as though we are unique individuals. Using deconditioning exercises, we can start to widen the cracks in our consensual reality which hopefully, enables us to become less attached to our beliefs and egofictions, and thus able to discard or modify them when appropriate."

-Gnosis. Ability to enter altered states of consciousness.

"We tend to draw a distinct line between ‘ordinary consciousness’ and ‘altered states’, where in fact we move between different states of consciousness - such as daydreams, ‘autopilot’ (where we carry out actions without cognition) and varying degrees of attention, all the time. However, as far as magick is concerned, the willed entry into intense altered states can be divided into two poles of ‘Physiological Gnosis’ - Inhibitory states, and Excitatory states. The former includes physically ‘passive’ techniques such as meditation, yoga, scrying, contemplation and sensory deprivation while the latter includes chanting, drumming, dance, emotional and sexual arousal."

So, conclusion.

"Rather than trying to recover and maintain a tradition that links back to the past (and former glories), Chaos magic is an approach that enables the individual to use anything that s/he thinks is suitable as a temporary belief or symbol system. What matters is the results you get, not the ‘authenticity’ of the system used. So Chaos magic then, is not a system - it utilises systems and encourages adherents to devise their own, giving magic a truly Postmodernist flavour."

"Chaos magic has a reputation being sinister or some type bad. Maybe because the name is what it is or,  "its “pick’n’mix/D.I.Y” approach to magic was frowned upon by the ‘traditionalist’ schools, secondly that many people associated chaos with ‘anarchy’ and other negative associations, and thirdly that some Chaos magic publications were hyped as being ‘blasphemous, sinister, and dangerous’ in a way that they were not, which proved all the same to be an attractive glamour for those who required such a boost to the ego.""

Tips for making sigils

-Use positive affirmations. Take the “not” out of your sigil. Sigils use your subconscious to manifest, and in much the same way that your first response when someone tells you “don’t look over there,” is to ignore them and look where they just told you not to, your subconscious will skip right over the “not” and fuck with your results. For example, “I am strong,” versus “I am not weak,” where “I am strong” carries the positive affirmations and “I am not weak” carries negative affirmations. Your subconscious takes “I am not weak” and crosses out the “not” and sees it instead as “I am weak,” and therefore your sigil may manifest the complete opposite of what you had intended.

-Use present tense as opposed to future tense. I’ve learned from experience to not leave room for loopholes, and using “I will” instead of “I am” leaves some room for loopholes. The phrase “I will be strong” leaves an open loophole where your sigil could start working right away as you intended it, or, in the case that the universe decides to be a little fucker as it so often does, a year from now. “I am strong” denotes that this is a thing that is happening now, so it’ll manifest now as opposed to later when it might not even matter anymore. If you have to use the word “will,” then the phrase “it is my will” may work for you.

However, if your sigil is something that you planned on manifesting sometime in the future, (“i will meet my soulmate”) then go ahead and use “I will” in your phrasing.

-Your sigil has to be charged AND activated. Not one or the other. Both. There are a number of methods and combination of methods to achieve this, but it’s important that you do both or your desire will not manifest.

Litha (Date: on the summer solstice, Jun 20-23)
A Sabbat for celebrating the longest day of the year, as well as for mourning the shortening days after. Some Witches burn bonfires or light candles to represent the Sun.

Litha (pronounced “LEE-THA”) is known also as the Summer Solstice, and Midsummer. It is a Sun and fire festival that marks the longest day and shortest night of the year. In the Wiccan Wheel of the Year, the height of the summer and the height of the God’s powers are celebrated on Litha. It is one of the Germanic festivals of the year and was most likely not observed by the Celts. The Christian holiday of St John’s Day coincides with the summer solstice, its date is the 24th of June. The summer solstice is still widely celebrated in Sweden, where it is known as Midsommar. In Finland we have Juhannus. This is my first Litha post so I will give you bunch of information.

This years Litha was amazing, we were in sauna every night, ate so much I couldn´t move, I practiced my poi (fire thing) tricks, I cleaned, took pictures, we listened music, I read books, did some sketchings, picked flowers and made a flower crown and we just enjoyed our surroundings and chilled. Sometimes you don´t need much, you don´t need to talk. You just need to smell, see and feel the summer and nature vibes. I picked so much things to our trip but ended up doing nothing in the end most of the time. I couldn´t have been any more happier. I wish I would be still in our little cabin in our little island. I hope we get there soon again. Try not to be without your phones, computers or tv´s for a while, you end up being happier. Connect with the Mother Earth, I bet you will enjoy it.

The Midsummer sunset was creating such a macigkal light, no edits needed

Historic Litha/Summer Solstice Traditions:

-Traditions in ancient/pre-Christian Rome:

In the run up to and during the Summer Solstice, ancient Romans celebrated and honored the goddess of the hearth, Vesta, during an aptly named festival - Vestalia. During this festival, alongside generic merriment (eating and drinking), women would leave offerings for Vesta in her temples hoping to bring blessings to their families.

-Traditions in ancient/pre-Christian Greece:

Around the Summer Solstice a festival named Kronia was held to honor and celebrate the god of agriculture, Cronus. It was a time of merriment and feasting, and during this time the social structures of Greece were flipped on their head: slaves were not required to fulfill their duties as slaves and were allowed to enjoy the festival alongside those of higher standing.

-Traditions in ancient/pre-Christian Europe:

In Europe, it was customary in many faiths and religious circles (including Slavic, Celtic, and Germanic) to celebrate the Summer Solstice with bonfires. Bonfires were believed to bolster the energy of the Sun and ensure a bountiful harvest come the end of the harvest season. The fires were believed to drive away and banish negative energies and evil spirits.

Bonfires

In the UK, bonfires used to play a central role in the celebration of the summer solstice and St John’s Day. The etymology of the word “bonfire” is unclear. Possible origins are “bone”, “boon” (a gift of goodwill), “bane”, or the Old Norse “baun”, which means “beacon”.

In 14th century Shropshire, three fires were lit on Midsummer Night:

A bonfire made out of bones
A wakefire made out of wood
A St John’s fire made out of both
The bonfires were for protection and luck, since crops are especially vulnerable to diseases and bad weather at the time of the festival.

Wheel of Fire

Another tradition at the summer solstice is the Wheel of Fire. A haystack was lit and rolled down a hill. If it burned all the way down, a good harvest was to come. A text from 4th century France first mentions the custom. By the 19th century, it was widespread in Europe. (Here is a short video of a similar German tradition that gives you an idea of what it looks like.)

Plant Magic

Litha has always been a potent date for plant magic. St John’s Day celebrations often included processions were flowers were carried. In 16th century London, doors were decorated with birch twigs, fennel, St John’s wort, orpins, and white lillies.

Activities:

-Take a bath with gold/yellow bath bombs or corresponding herbs and flowers.
-Sunbathe.
-Leave offerings for the Fae.
-Try divination using fire scrying.
-Meditate in the morning (or when ever)
-Listen to happy music
-Light yellow and orange candles
-Make rose oil
-Pick flowers and herbs
-Bake a cake, cookies or make other sweets
-Eat them with your loved ones
-Surround yourself with light
-Wear or make flower crowns
-Cleanse your room/home with light
-Clean out cobwebs
-Admire Summer: Whether it’s a hot, bright summer day or a summer storm, enjoy the Solstice! Stop to smell the flowers, bask in the weather and full bloom of nature, or just enjoy the longest day of the year.
-Make a fire when it’s dark (or light a candle or incense if you can’t do that). As Fire is the primary element, simply lighting a candle is a great way to celebrate! Some choose to light it during the day and allow it to burn throughout the day. But it is way better to watch your fire and not get your place on fire, so don´t leave your candles alone! Praying to the candle is another aspect to consider. Bonus if you a light a candle that is made from beeswax!
-Use Summer herbs.
-Color-coordinate and accessorize: Yellows, oranges, and other similar summer colors are a low-key way to celebrate. Wear these colored clothing or accessories in celebration. If you have accessories or clothing that have butterflies, bees, other pollinators, and birds, even better! Got sun-theme jewelry? Also good! Wear warm colors or any bright color that makes you happy and what makes your own light shine!
-Watch the sunrise/sunset: Many suggest watching the sunrise on Litha, and others say watch the sunset. Your choice! Just enjoy the beautiful colors and scenery of a sunrise/sunset.
-Focus on yourself: Figure out what you want to let go. We’re 6 months in and it’s time for a review. Are you happy? Are there things you can let go of? Take the time to review yourself, your path, and your life. See what you want out of your life and make a plan to achieve it.
-Celebrate love: Love yourself, your family, your friends, and/or your partner. Single? Say a prayer to search for love. Cast a love-magnet spell, or a self-love spell. Hell, do some divination on the topic of love (romantic, platonic, and/or familial) Most importantly, express your love. Do things that promote self-love. Tell your family, friends, and/or partner you love them.
-Do something outside! Litha is the longest day of the year, so go into nature and spend some of those hours doing something you enjoy.
-If you have an altar, decorate it to celebrate. Use the symbols and colours and other things listed in this post to decorate your altar for the sabbat.
-Have a bonfire! You can have a big one, or a little one, but bonfires have been a big part of celebrating Litha for as long as we know. The bonfires are cleansing, energising and purifying.

“From a golden broom pluck five long straws,
Light them as tapers at the fire;
Carry them through the house, and cause
Their subtle smoke to thicken the air–

Then summon good fortune with this spell:

Wraiths of the house,
Take heart and live:
To every chamber
This light I give,
To every corner
This breath I send–
Approve and favor
My willing hand

If you would please them doubly well,
Sprinkle the floor with leaves of tea
And orris powder and grains of salt–
Then sweep with the broom, until you are free
Each crack and crevice from speck or fault.”

— From Crone’s Book of Magical Words  by Valerie Worth

Cottage / Hearth - (A slight variation from kitchen) Magick that is weaved, worked, or someone who is into mundane tasks around the house or for loved ones. Cottage/Hearth magick may be worked into daily tasks such as cleaning, cooking, or any hobbies. A Cottage Witch is a witch whose magickal practice focuses mainly on the home, similar to a Kitchen Witch but with less of a specific food/kitchen focus and more of a general home focus. A Cottage Witch considers her home sacred space and housekeeping a sacred act. A Cottage Witch may follow any religious or spiritual path or none.

Do you respect your home? Do you take care of your home? Home is our sacred place, where we let in only the ones we want to. It is our safe haven  from the world outside. It is the place where we spend most of our time and we should make it to feel our own, make it feel that the word "home" has an actual meaning.

What to tell about Cottage Witch? It´s my jam. Like Kitchen Witch is also, I made another post about Kitchen Witchery, so just wait a while for more information if this interested you. Anyway, what Cottage/Hearth mean to me, is my basic lifestyle. You can be a cottage witch no matter what kind of place you live, you can live in a mansion or in a tent, it´s all fine.

I am not that ritualistic witch, I like to do little things in my life that has magic in them while making it, such as cleaning and decorating my home. So my rituals are in the making, in living, in every day life. I think our kitchen is very magickal and I do a lot of cooking and baking, I dry herbs and I want to kitchen to be the heart at my home. I have little kitchen altar (I also have bigger altar in the bedroom, which I use in my rituals and I decorate to match each Sabbat) and I believe in home deities and I often leave gifts for them. I love feng-shui, I need to do more with it again, I need to put it on my to do list... I think it is very important to keep things in your life that only brings you joy or you actually need. When everything has it own place and things are in certain order, the energy in the home will flow more fluently. It will effect on your mood and energy level. It also makes you stress less.

So make your home your own, care for it, so you can also care for you too.

Basics of Kitchen and Cottage Witchcraft

Kitchen witches believe that the kitchen is a sacred place where all of the magick happens. They focus on the use of edible ingredients and kitchen tools.  A cottage witch is a witch that brings magick into the house and are protectors of the hearth and home. They bring cheer and warmth to every room they enter. Their focuses are on the family, home, and daily needs. Both the cottage and Kitchen witch believe that by honoring the home it honors the Gods and Goddesses. They bring magick into everyday life and daily chores.

Cottage Witch things to do

-Create a kitchen altar
-Stock your shelves with herbs and spices
-Bring maximum feng-shui to your home
-Keep the home physically and spiritually clean

-When making meals add herbs that correspond to your magickal needs
-Decorate the home according to the sabbats
-Brew some special teas
-Make your own candles, salves, and tinctures.

-Put intent into everything you cook and clean
-Make an incantation or short song to sing while you stir.
-Inscribe your wooden spoons with sigils
-Carve your wooden shelves with sigils - carve them at the bottom of the cupboard to remain discreet
-Craft oils, incense, soaps, potions, and salves.
-Make herbal remedies
-Chant while cleaning or preparing a meal
-Use numerology in your practices by the number of times you stir or the number of times you knead dough.
-During the mead moon, brew mead with magickal intent.
-Decorate the home with your own art or art done by your children, poems, knits, woodcraft’s, paintings, quilts, diy’s, or tapestries.
-Enchant your crafts.
-Use weather magick, candle magick, ribbon charms, and anything else used to add magick to your home.
-Honour the ancestors.
-Bless the home.
-Start a garden and will it with organic and in season fruits and vegetables.
-Charge herbal oils by moonlight or candlelight to heal, bless the home or to clean and protect the woodwork she polishes with it.
-Scatter charm bags, witches ladders, chimes, and bells around the home.
-Grow an indoor jungle

-Sing or play music to raise good vibrations
-Bake and cut cookies in shapes to match your intentions
-Provide someone in need with a free meal
-Volunteer at a local soup kitchen to bring magick into it
-Sweep with a broom (besom) regularly. To the mundane eye, you’re clearing away dust and crumbs, but any witch knows you’re really spiritually cleansing and charging your home.
-Put a line of salt on your windowsill for protection.
-Forage fallen sticks to tie into a pentacle with twine. Hang as a wreath on the front door.
-Candles in every room.
-Call it “aromatherapy” if you’re still a secret witch, but utilize scent as the powerful thing it is! Burn incense. Have asthma? Try essential oils and scented candles. Budgeting? You can always put herbs and teas into the wax of a melting pillar candle to release the scent.
-Bake bread. Knead it with intention, cut a sigil in the top before baking, indulge in the act of creating.
-Open windows to bring in the element of air and purge your home of bad or stale energy.
-Collect and display little things from nature: pinecones, stones, crystals, dried flowers, acorns, feathers (if you’re permitted). Altars don’t need to be obvious, they can just be things that make you grounded and glad.
-Live. Always remember that anywhere a witch lives is magical, whether you feel it or not. Do these little things for yourself, to cherish feeling connected, but witchcraft is not about pressure or conforming.
-Burn a candle on your stove (or wherever you consider to be the heart of the home) to symbolize the hearth fire of ages past. This can be used a daily ritual to connect to your ancestors, those who came before us, and (if you have any) your deities, especially if you have a patron home and/or hearth deity. It also fills the home with love, warmth, and intent. Feel free to match the color and scent with your desired intent!
Not in a position to burn candles? Have no fear! You can absolutely use a battery powered candle, or one of the LED ones. After all, the intent is what makes this meaningful.

What their altar may display:

Candles
Tools used for sacred use
Four elements
Statues of the honoured deities
A doll weaved of corn
A kitchen witch’s altar is often displayed in the corner of the kitchen and is not permanent

Energy Cleansing Through Cleaning

Have you been feeling down? Too tired to get up and do things? Try these:

Vacuuming - Oh the smell of a room after it’s been vacuumed. Cleaner but also a little empty. Vacuuming is a good “lets whip the slate clean of everything”. It sucks up the energies in your home leaving it clean and blank.  After a good vacuuming is a perfect time to do some home blessings and protections!

Sweeping - Banishing! Now go go go, the broom shrieks as you brush away dirt and old leaves. Sweeping is a perfect way to banish energies. Not suck them up and get ride of them. Oh no, banish them. Forcibly remove them from your place cuz those nastiest aren’t allowed to stay around. You can also put charms on the broom so it lays down goodness as it banishes the not so good stuff.

Window Cleaning - Opening the mind to inspiration and clear thinking. Whipping away the muck from the windows allows the home to be charged and energy flow in smoothly. It also can bring in more inspiration and clearer intuition.

Cleaning The dishes - Time to help harmony move around. Spreading love and charm with eat spoon, plate, and bowls. Allowing fulfillment of the stomach and the soul! Wipe away the muck of the day, and bring in time to for better days!

Enjoy your cleaning!

Cottage Witch Tips

For those among us who, value the simple little things we can do to keep our homes and hearths happy, healthy, and still magical!

• Make a spray of salt, water, vinegar, and herbs you associate with protection (pepper, lemon, and rosemary- and a variation of Thieves oil, if you’re interested in also cutting down on germs and such) to use when cleaning to add a magical boost to protecting your home.
• Through many of us don’t have the traditional old school hearth setup, I like to light a candle to symbolize the hearth fire burning in my home. I use this ritual to honor my gods and their presence in my home. This also helps me feel connected to the hearth fires of old and to all those who came before me, allowing me to be here.
• Timing your chores with moon cycles can be an effective way to get witchy and remember to actually do certain chores, which we all forget from time to time (no? Just me? Alright then.)
• Enchanting your throws, blankets, and miscellaneous comfy things to be loving, comforting, and reassuring for those who need it is always a nice touch.
• Making a charm for a healthy, happy, and protected home! I made a little witch ball out of a plastic Christmas ornament and some items that matched my intent and it’s been good.
• Don’t underestimate the magical nature of mundane chores. Sweeping? I like to visualize that I’m sweeping out all of the gross energy and vibes along with the grime. Vacuuming? Same deal. Airing out the house? Inviting in clear and flowing energy. As long as you make it meaningful, it is.
• If you’re into home decor, switching out wreathes and interior decorations is a good way to stay in tune with the feel of the season.
• Warding your home! This can take many forms, such as a witch ball, wind chimes, a rock guardian, or whatever else you see fit!
• Adding charged water to your cleaning supplies can really help intent and usher in the seasons. I like to use solar water with some lemon to welcome in the spring and summer and moon water with some chai spices to welcome in fall and winter. Some people like to use this method for a magical mopping scenario, I just use it for the front door.
• Laundry magic is real, y'all. Even if you don’t make your own detergent or fabric softener, you can buy scents that correspond with certain intents (citrus for joy, lavender for relaxation, etc).
• I enjoy working my crystals and plants in my home decor. Our little rock and plant friends are great for keeping a home feeling happy and healthy. They raise the energy of the home, but also make it a bit more inviting in feeling and appearance.
•Stir your food clockwise to banish negative spirits.
•When cleaning, sprinkle salt on the floor and go do something else. Come back to the salt after a while and sweep, so that all the negative energy is gone.
•Put dried rosemary in your home to purify and cleanse the space.
•Need your fridge to stop smelling bad?
Leave a saucer of baking soda on the bottom shelf to absorb odor or cut a lemon in half, stab the halves with a fork a few times, place both halves in the fridge. It will absorb all those nasty smells!

Crystal - Magick that is worked commonly with stones and crystals, such as during spellwork or for crystal healing techniques. This may also include chakra balance, crystal meditation… anything that uses crystals, really! A crystal witch may also have an extensive knowledge of stones, including how to identify them and using their properties. Their Book of Shadows will most likely have information about the stones, chakra balance, and crystal meditation.

Crystal witch things: keeping crystals in your pockets, crystals sitting on your windowsill under the moonlight, crystalline light reflections.

I am not going to tell what every little crystal will do, internet is full of information. But I am going to tell some basic things about crystals that you might want to know. I, myself, use crystals in healing, while I am dreaming (for various reasons, like getting rid of nightmares or many healing reasons), I use them while I bathe, because you can use them to cleanse and bring things in your life you need, I use them while meditating and also when I feel very anxious and to get calm. My amethyst in my wedding ring is of course always in use for protection of negative energy and keeping my own emotional energy in balance. It is said that in lot of use the amethyst will fade but past 7 years it is still very purple. Of course every crystal jewelry is always handy (and oh so pretty!) in regular use.

-Place citrine in the prosperity corner of your office (or desk), keep some in your wallet, or put some in the cash register of your business to get the money flowing!
-Meditate on, visualize, and verbalize your desires while holding quartz crystals. You can also place them on a photograph or list of what you would like to manifest.
-Use amethyst in meditation to get in tune with your feelings, promote mental clarity, and calm your thoughts. Place it in your home, office, or car to purify the space of any negative energy so you can thrive in your high vibe environment!
-Sleep with obsidian under your pillow to help with mental stresses or use it in meditation to get clear about what's holding you back from manifesting your desires.
-Keep carnelian in your pocket for enhanced creativity and motivation, or place it in your workspace if you're some type of artist.
-Charge your crystals with music. Just pick one song that is fitting for your intent.
-Have a bath with crystals with you!

-Decorate your place/home with crystals and make it feel magickal!
-Get your own crystal shelf (it´s a thing now in crystal witch community)
-Make crystal grids
-When you feel like you need a new crystal your life, pick the one that calls you. Crystals know that you need them in certain point of life (it´s like the wands in Harry Potter).

Below is a list of helpful terms to know when working with gems and minerals. It includes terminology on various crystal shapes and forms. Terms specific to mineral shapes have “(form)” next to them for ease of reference.

Abundance (form): An abundance crystal consists of one long quartz crystal with many small crystals clustered around its base. Its function is to attract wealth and abundance.

Adamantine Luster: A particularly brilliant shine as shown by a specimen such as a diamond.

Amorphous (form): Amorphous crystals, such as obsidian, have no particular shape. Energy flows rapidly through and amorphous crystal as it has no rigid internal organization.

Aura: The subtle bio-magnetic sheath that surrounds the physical body, providing a protective zone that extends for about 18 inches to 3 feet from the body and contains information about a person’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual state of being.

Aura Crystal: A crystal specimen, usually of the quartz variety, that has been coated with metal (i.e. gold, titanium) in a vacuum chamber resulting in an iridescent sheen.

Ball (form): Balls are usually shaped from a larger piece of crystal and may have planes or flaws within them. They emit energy in all directions equally.

Barnacle (form): A barnacle crystal has many small crystals covering a larger crystal.

Bridge (form): A bridge crystal grows out of another larger crystal. It assists in bridging gaps and bringing things together.

Carat: The standard measure of weight for precious stones and metals. A carat is equal to 0.007 oz (0.2g).

Channeler (form): A channeling crystal has a 7 sided facet at the front of the termination and a triangular face on the opposite side. It channels healing energy or information from higher sources.

Cleavage: The way a mineral or rock breaks along a certain plane, or in a certain direction.

Cluster (form): A cluster has many points bedded, but not necessarily fixed, into a base. The crystals may be small or large.

Companion (form): A companion crystal has two crystals entwined and partly growing in each other, or a small crystal that grows out of the main crystal.

Cross (form): A cross formation has one crystal at right angles to another, usually larger crystal.

Crystal: A naturally occurring substance whose atoms are arranged in a regular manner.

Crystal System: The systems in which crystals are grouped based on their symmetry. There are 6 crystal systems: cubic, monoclinic, triclinic, trigonal/hexagonal, orthorhombic, and tetragonal.

Diamond Window (form): Flat faces at the top of crystals are called windows. A diamond window is large and connected to the apex and the base.

Double Terminated (form): A crystal with two naturally faceted ends.

Dull Luster: A shine that reflects very little.

Earthy Luster: A non-reflective mineral luster.

Egg (form): A crystal cut in the shape of an egg.

Elestial (form): An elestial has many natural terminations and folds over a multilayered crystal.

Etched (form): An etched crystal that looks as though hieroglyphs or cuneiform writing has been inscribed on its faces.

Faces: The External flat surface that make up a crystal’s shape.

Fault Line: An inner flaw or break in a crystal that refracts light and appears to divide the crystal into sections.

Geologist: A scientist who studies the Earth and its structure and composition.

Gridding: The placing of crystals around a building, person, or room for protection or enhancement energies.

Habit: The general shape of a mineral.

Inclusion: Any material that is trapped inside a mineral during its formation, often producing a rainbow.

Iridescence: A play of colors that looks like oil on water that occurs when light reflects off internal elements of a rock or mineral.

Crystal grids

What is a crystal grid?

-Simply put, a crystal grid is an arrangement of crystals that helps set, focus, and amplify intentions

What can a grid be used for?

-There are several things you can use a crystal grid for
1. To increase the power of your crystals
2. To cleanse and/or charge your crystals
3. Create protective boundaries
4. Raise the vibration of your space (good for work flow or meditation)
5. To bring in luck, happiness, wealth, love etc. (any intention you can put into a spell, you can put into a crystal grid)

Different Parts of a grid

The Perimeter
–an optional outer ring of stones that are used to protect your grid.

The Desire Stones
–Gather the energy of your stones and send it out into your space

The Way Stones
–Organizes and modifies the energy set by the focus stone

The Focus Stone
–Usually the stone in the center of the grid, sets your intentions

How to cleanse your crystals

Water
-You can leave your crystals under running water and visualize water taking away all the energies that no longer serve the crystals.
-You can put them in a bowl with salt and leave them outdoors under the sunlight and the moonlight for three days. Then, you wash them with running water.

If you want, you can consider in which phase the moon is and leave them under its light to charge them with the energy you are looking to work with:

-Waxing Moon: Activation
-Waning Moon: Receiving
-Full Moon: to amplify the energy and bring light and awareness to situations
-New Moon: Fill them with potent energy. Positive vibes and manifestations.

Earth
- Lay your crystals on the earth or bury them. If you have pointed crystals, you can hammer them into the earth.

Air
-You can use the smoke of incense or burning herbs to cleanse your crystals (sage and lavender are great for this). The smoke of charcoal disks, or  copal resins is also useful for this.

Fire
-You can quickly pass your crystals through a candle’s flame. If you choose to do this, make sure you do it fast so crystals do not overheat. Please be careful, SAFETY FIRST!!
-There are lotions, oils, and sprays that are specially made to cleanse and purify the energies of a space, or people. You can use these to give your crystals a quick cleanse and recharge.

Other crystals

The vibration of other cleansed and charged crystals can help to reprogram or cleanse your new crystals. You can put some (or all) the crystals you already have in a plate, and place your new crystals on top of them. You can leave them for a few hours or days.

There are some crystals (like calcite, selenite, and pyrite) that cannot be submerged in water or be cleansed with salt. Crystals like amethyst should not be left under direct sunlight.

Witch Tips

-Rose quartz is a great stone to have when bathing/showering. It helps cleanse one emotionally while being cleaned physically, it also brings a light airy feel to the atmosphere and the water can help cleanse the stone itself as well.
Bonus- if you worship Aphrodite it’s a good way to honor her, being a love goddess closely associated with water, and rose quartz is a love stone.
-Don’t leave your crystals directly in salt, this can erode them very easily. Instead place them in a bag first or on a plate over the salt.
-Never leave them in water or create elixirs with them. This will erode and cause them to dissolve, if crystal water is your goal, place the crystals around the water or on top of the lid, or once again, place them in a bag first. (Definitely don’t consume water that has been in contact with the crystals either, as they can be highly harmful.)
-Be very careful, or avoid using them with children and animals entirely, this can be very dangerous as they can easily get swallowed or choked on, as well as being toxic to the little guys.
-When placing them in a safe space in times of being unused, you may want to keep similar crystals and stones nearer each other rather than mixing them with opposing vibrations.
-Keeping in mind that some crystals are receptive as others are projective, their vibrations can be quite opposing as well, this can be a hassle when making grids or incorporating many crystals into a ritual or spell, so always be knowledgeable of your crystals!
-If you have any of these:  Aquamarine, Turquoise, Pyrite, Ruby, Moonstone, Lapis Lazuli, Halite, Garnet, Fluorite, Amazonite, Desert Rose, Gypsum, Talc, Calcite, Angelite, Malachite, Witherite, Cinnabar, selenite, celestine
PLEASE DO NOT PUT THEM IN WATER. The bolded ones are especially dangerous as they release toxins when exposed to water!
-Keep your amethyst out of the sun while charging it (it will fade), instead use moonlight (you can also put a circle of salt around the crystal. Do not put the salt on the ground, use plates etc).

Witchy self care

$

I had my own first retreat with my witchy friends this weekend, I feel all balanced and I want to share the feeling with others.

How do you feel today? Like I said about in Cottage Witch post, do you take care about of castle, your home, now I ask, do you take care of YOU? Sometimes we are so busy we don´t have time for ourselves and our body and mind aren´t in balance anymore. Even if you already feel quite good, it is really important to take care of yourself, to do some self care. Loving our best friend (that is you) is the most important thing. It doesn´t need to be anything big and expensive, do things that you actually enjoy. Here is few things I do when I feel little bit down, stressed out or just when I want to pamper myself. Every little small thing you do for you, is important.

You can use things that are supposed to use in love spells, to make your own self love feel more effective. If spells doesn´t work for you, you can make a love altar or a little magick pouch full of love related things in it. And why not even make a witch ball? Get crafty! Use them in your kitchen, use as incense, hold a crystal, anything that works for you.

-Throw out or reuse old pill bottles; put crystals in them, paint them, use them as spell jars
-Renew good relationships and remove yourself from old ones
-Write down things that bother you on a piece of paper and burn it. Just burn things.
-Delete unnecessary contacts
-Drink plenty of water and ingest a lot of plants; cleanse your internal system

Blessed be darklings, take care of yourselves!

  • Death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it.
  • Haruki Murakami

It is not length of life, but depth of life.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.
Kahlil Gibran

Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them.
George Eliot

  • Death/Necromancy - A practice that may combine Bone, Animal, Spirit work, occasionally also Blood. Using spirits to empower one self, hoarding bones, using graveyards, graves, the spirits of them, as well as the dirt (or even plants) that are found in them. May also honor the dead and/or gods who work with the dead.

Similar to:
Spirit Working - A practice in which the person will perform spellwork in conjunction with or with the help of any manner of spirit. This includes Ouija, (sometimes) demon spirits, spiritual contact, etc.
Spirit Worker. - A magick practitioner who works with spirits of all kind in communication and guidance. Spirit working can be defined as working with human spirits, demons, fae, spirit guides and spirit companions. The definition varies from person to person.

Life and death, death in life. I see and talk to spirits pretty often. I have done it since I was very little. Mostly I did it with dead plants but when I grew up I started to notice some new things in the world, human spirits. I have never been afraid of them, but they have tried to hurt me at least one time (that I know). I used to see dreams about my dead friend (which I tell you more about in the Dream Witch post (up coming!) (edit. I talked with this friend via spirit board and she said she really did come to visit my dreams!) and I just today did a smudging in my apartment to get rid of one nasty spirit who has taken my energy past week or so. I have been so heavily tired I have needed to take naps every 3-6 hours. I can sometimes see and hear spirits but mostly I feel them. I feel cold air, I feel pressure from really bad energy, I feel emotions and I feel touching. (edit. I have a spirit in my apartment again, need to do some cleansing)

Clairs:
Clairvoyance (seeing),
Clairtangence/psychometry (touching), clairaudience (hearing),
Clairgustance (tasting),
Clairsentience (feeling),
Clairscent/clairodoance (smelling) and clairempathy etc etc to communicate with spirits. While some people have a natural affinity for one to several, they can all be strengthened by anyone with practice.

Death is in my plants that don´t survive (I just can´t do it, sigh, I clearly am not a Green witch), death is in my animals that had past away, death is what feeds me and my family, without dead plants and animals, we wouldn´t be here (what would we eat?). Death is in my ancestors which I don´t know but would like to know. Death is where something in my life ends and new begins. Death is in the changing seasons. Death is in my friends who has passed away but who I don´t forget and they live trough my memories. There is no life without death and other way around. Death is everywhere. Circle of life will continue no matter what. I myself, am a Death Witch.

In Finnish lore we have Tuonela (underworld) and we had Kalman väki (people of the dead) who welcomed new spirits to the spirit realm and they mostly gathered up together. We had Tuonen Tytti (Tytti of the underworld) who came with her boat and sail the dead to Tuonela. A lot has been forgotten  but some of us still remembers and respect the old believes. If this made you feel interested, let me know and I will tell more. Also there is coming my big photographing project, so I will let you know about these kind of stuff later on.

Tips for someone interested in getting started on this path

-Do research on funeral services and the ways different cultures take care of their dead.

-Study death, how it occurs in humans, animals, plants, etc.

-Think of your own death and the death of those around you, think of what the word “death” truly means to you.
-Start a journal and write down your thoughts and how the meaning of that word changes for you over time.

-Start talking with spirits (but remember that some do lie).

-Go to graveyards and pay respects to those that are there, especially the older forgotten areas of cemeteries.

Some tools that Death Witch might use: Graveyard Dirt, salt, black Salt, obsidian, hematite, smoky quartz, athame, pendulum, spirit board, tarot cards, bones (obtained ethically),blood (own).

Death Witch things to do

-Visiting natural history and art museum. Not only for the spirit work (museums are surprisingly rife with spirits) but also the reflection on the objects themselves that are imbued with death energy due to their age.
-Kitchen witchcraft with fermentation. I’m talking both home starters/yeasts and drink based fermenting! The process of encouraging fermentation is literally a controlled necromancy if you think about it! Also your own fermented product will be excellent to use in spellwork!
-Upcycle crafting! The process of reusing items in a new way that you already had or seeking out items to use instead of letting them become trash is also working with death energy!
-Playing death related games or watching movies with friends and family. Death witchcraft tasks and energy work doesn’t have to look witchy! If you have a weekly or monthly hangout where you play tabletops like Betrayal at House on the Hill or even online games. Or watch documentaries or movies with loved ones that related that totally counts! Especially as a lower spoon option.
-Drawing or photographing abandoned buildings/architecture. So often people forgot that the decay of manmade objects and places do hold death energy and weight. Tapping into this side of death witchcraft can be an interesting experience.
-Visiting a 24 hour store or restaurant in the middle of the night. Also walking through a store at 3am is a good time to practice a walking meditation or some simple spirit communication without too much trouble. Just have your headphones in for an excuse!
-Learning to maintain your own compost! The cycle of your kitchen supplies life and decay is such a simple and deep way to access that death energy and maybe even work your way up to having that green thumb! Also using this compost in spellwork will pack a punch!

Rituals

Death witchcraft can be used and interpreted in many different ways. But what one does with it is often very personal, different, and unique. Here are some rituals, spells, etc. that I found useful.

-Scrying with spirits
-Divining the future with the dead
-Grief spells and rituals
-Passing spells and rituals - helping spirits pass on, or get “unstuck” when reliving their past is a very rewarding thing.
-Curses - death does not always mean bringing mortality to a living, breathing thing. It can be used it to smother success, disenchant happiness, etc.
-Rebirth spells and rituals - Release yourself from the past and start with the clean sheet.
-Communing with the dead - meditation can lead to eye opening encounters with the spirits of those who died before you. They have voices, and they will speak, even if you will not listen.
-Cleaning up, respecting the dead - burying bones or carcasses of animals is one way to respect and honour the dead (if they want you to, that is). So is picking up litter near a cemetery, or helping the grief stricken friends and family of someone you know who has passed. Learn what to say, and what not to, and read up on death, and its overwhelming history.

Communication with Ghosts

A baseline experience in warding/protection and spirit communication is necessary first. Also have an energy source other than your own ready for boosting the communication (offerings, crystals, charged items or water, energy jars, etc.) is helpful and polite as well.
Find a place that works for you: cemeteries, old buildings, museums, crossroads, bodies of water, old growth forests, liminal spaces, personal ancestor shrines, old houses, etc.
Start with a communication method you’re familiar with: Tarot, pendulum, shufflemancy, trancing, channeling, automatic writing, empathy/clair senses
Let your mind unfocus- it doesn’t have to be true “clearing mind” that meditation methodology sometimes talks about. Letting your mind just wander is good too. Gently allow thoughts to appear but don’t dwell on them. Try identifying thoughts that wouldn’t be your own. Practice discernment.
Record the feelings and experience. If you’re comfortable with it, push for more specific interaction with your communication method: “who are you?”, “where are you from?” “what do you need me to know about?” “what do you enjoy talking about”. It’s okay to just keep things organic and loose for the first couple times and not ask specific questions, just allow impressions.
Be firm about safety and your boundaries. Don’t let the spirit take advantage of any discomfort you may experience. It’s always okay to disconnect the communication and come back later.
Keep a journal regarding these experiences. Refer back to it to build relationships with repeat spirits and learn methods that work the most successfully for you. Feel free to use it to research background on deceased spirits when you aren’t communicating directly.
Be respectful about privacy. It’s okay to share experiences in a general sense but you may include a question about whether you may share specifics about any spirits you interact with. However, be wary of any spirits that tell you not to talk about communing at all, that level of secrecy is suspect. Personal privacy (names, history, ages, personal stories, etc) are of course common courtesy to protect but your own success in methodology and emotions regarding the experiences should be your own choosing on whether to share, not theirs.

Skulls

A skull may house a conjured ghost, and allow that spirit to speak through the body of the skull. Some sources will offer incense upon the skull to help this take effect.
Related to the first point, a sealing spell may be cast upon the skull to prevent it from lying or deceiving. This spell involves sealing the mouth with graveyard dirt and drawing an engraving on it with iron.
Skulls may be used to dispel or scare off ghosts. A libation poured from the skull of a black dog is used in one such banishing ritual.
Many rituals include using a skull to prevent one from grinding their teeth during sleep. Some believed that this happened because a dead family member tried to communicate through their relative in sleep. The sufferer may either kiss it seven and seven times, or kiss it seven times and lick it seven times, over the span of four nights.
Skulls are used as summoning ingredients and basis for the conjurer’s power. Sometimes, an incantation will be spoken over a skull. Other times, a libation or conjuring oil will be spilt over the skull.

Simple Spirit Work

-Write messages and notes for deceased loved ones on autumn leaves and let the wind carry them where they need to go.
-Carve sigils and symbols to promote spirit work into pumpkins and place on altars or around your property.
-Collect pinecones and pine boughs and tie in bundles to be placed around a room you want to discourage spirits from visiting during the thinning veil time (i.e. your bedroom, bathroom, etc.).
-Read a favorite book or book passage in a graveyard to the local spirits and ghosts. You may also playi or sing a favorite song.
-Enchant candles you place in your jack o’ lanterns to greet and guide spirits peacefully and with love.
-Erect an ancestor altar; include pictures, items, food that were favorites of deceased loved ones (including pets!!).
-Pour an additional drink or fill a small plate with part of your meal as a tribute to household spirits or ghosts.
-Do your divination outside during dawn or dusk times.
-Invite spirits and ghosts to join you in watching your favorite holiday movies (”Nightmare Before Christmas”, “Halloween”, “Hocus Pocus”, etc.).
-Leave birdseed or bird/animal safe homemade crackers outside for your local messengers of the dead.
-Bury offerings for the Underworld and Kerberos (again, assuming they’re critter-safe).
-Make crockpot soups and stews enchanted with prosperity, healing, love, and warmth
-Paint sigils in water/sugar under or on top of baked goods before popping into oven for charging.
-Pick up debris in a local graveyard while talking pleasantly to the spirit occupants.

Good Offerings In Death Work

Whenever you visit a graveyard, to honor someone or otherwise, it is only appropriate to leave an offering behind. Below I will list common offerings for the dead.

Herbs
Mugwort, Apple, Bay. Frankincense, Myrrh, Rosemary, Pomegranates, Wormwood, Banana, Honey

Flowers
Roses, Lilies, Orchids, Daisies, Dandelions, Mullein, Eucalyptus Leaves, Juniper Berries

Liquids
Water, Wine, Pomegranate Juice, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Vinegar, Whiskey

Others
Coins (Very Common), Brown Bread, Candles (Typically White or Black), Musical Elements, Birthday Candles, Rice

Crystals
Bloodstone, Amethyst, Obsidian, Blue Kyanite, Danburite, Tektite

Coins
Most of these herbs, flowers, and crystals are used for protection or guiding spirits. So you may be asking, why do we commonly leave coins are an offering? Well, most speculate this is due to the Charon. In Greek and Latin literary, the Charon is the ferryman who guides souls into the afterlife from the land of the living. The coins are offerings to him to help guide the spirit.

Different Ways to Use These Offerings

-Burn the herbs and/or flowers around the grave either alone or with a written message to the spirit.
-Pour the liquids over the grave, or leave them in an offering bowl.
-Leave above the grave the flowers, coins, crystals or other offering objects.

Some Activities That Can Be Used As Offerings

-Reading a story out loud or to yourself.
-Tell the spirit a story of your life.
-Play some music for the spirit.

Memento Mori Journal

One way to honor the dead is to keep a Memento Mori Journal. This is a journal that the living write headstone information in to remember the dead. It’s also advised that you search up the person once you get home and write some facts about them in your journals. Among the community, they are quite popular.

Self Care for Death Witches

-Take a cleansing bath. Sometimes working with death energy can take a toll on your energy levels, as well as potentially attract death into your life (especially if it is surrounding you on a daily basis). Every two weeks or so, it’s a good idea to clean up your aura and spirit using a ritual shower or bath. For a bath, toss in 1 cup of epsom salt, and ½ cup of baking soda, and then use any safe essential oils to add a little magical boost. This combination will cleanse you physically of any toxins, and also spiritually. Do not soak for longer than 20 minutes, and it is generally said that every 2 weeks is the best timeframe between this ritual. I use lavender oil and mint leaves to really clean and protect myself. Be sure to research the affects of herbs, especially in regards to your physical state and taking into account medications you consume. For a shower, let the water run over your whole body. Then, soak a loofa or hand towel in a mixture of epsom salt, baking soda, and essential oils or herbs (again, do this safely). Softly scrub your body, and rinse yourself off again.
-Take naps. This is a very important tip, especially for those of you who work primarily at night. Find a good time for you, and try to consistently get enough sleep. It’s important to stay well rested to keep your energy up and your physical body healthy.
-Spend time doing what you love. Don’t neglect things you enjoy to focus your whole being on death witchcraft. If you like to sew, paint, write, solve equations, cook, or whatever else, make time for it. Doing something mundane is very essential to keeping you from getting burnt out on your practice.
-Eat. I mean it. I find myself forgetting to eat an awful lot when I immerse myself in death witchcraft and necromancy. I don’t know if it’s just because I am super busy or because I am focusing too much on spiritual needs instead of physical ones, but it isn’t good for you. Eat at least 3 meals, and drink lots of water!
-Listen to your body. If it’s telling you it’s tired, hungry, thirsty, or in pain, you shouldn’t ignore it. This is something I really need to remember. Sometimes I think practicing death witchcraft is more important than focusing on my physical needs, but it isn’t black and white like that. Both are important, and I should really realize that if I don’t take care of myself now, I won’t be able to practice later.
-Relax. Take a moment and meditate, or just sit with crystals, candles, water, or whatever calms you. Recharge your batteries. This is really vital for those of you who use a lot of your own energy for spells, spirit communication, and more. I like to listen to music that makes me feel like a death witch (playlist is on its way to a blog near you).
-Spend time in places you find fulfilling. I like graveyards, I like hospitals. I like places where death is prevalent because it helps me get acquainted with the thought of death. If this is you, too, then go to those places.

Did you know?
In certain traditions, the gatekeeper is said to be the first spirit who was buried in that cemetery. The gate keeper is a guardian of the dead, of sorts, who help other spirits and keep the graveyard powerful and contained. Sometimes they reside in a vessel, and sometimes they roam around. For spirit workers such as death walkers, they may help lead you to troubled spirits or spirits they’d like you to help.

Death Witch Tip
Offering for the dead: lemon poppy seed baked goods.
Poppy seeds = Sleep and peace, to give them rest.
Lemon = Healing and purification, to bring them peace and allow to leave gently without being followed.

Blessed be!

Life update (let´s do our best)

Dear darklings,
my rehabilitation ended this week. I had my last check visit in Verve and I am totally ready for working world. That seems so weird. We talked about how much I have changed. When I started at Verve (place where they help you find your career path if you have physical or mental problems) I went there and cried every damn day. I needed a lot of help even with my cv. And now, I am at school and learning how to start my own business. I am making my own plans, by myself and that is something that feels truly great. 2 weeks has already passed, 4 to go. I am learning so much, I have so much inspiration and my plans has sharpened.

I still have a lot of time before the company is really coming true, because of many things (that´s life), so I have been thinking what to do while waiting my dream to come true. I want to use my time carefully. Doing maybe something that helps me with my goal. I have been thinking about doing more school. Maybe marketing, because that I really love to do already, that would help with the company too. Or maybe freelance photographing. Maybe I fully focus on my photography project and book and do that. Maybe I put FAM on totally next level. Many options. I am glad that I am in that point in my life that I have many passions that I love and I can work with. I am also blessed with friends and a partner that wants to help and support me. I can do anything that I want.

Because all of that, I have been very inspired to help my friends to find passion and goals in life too. I have helped couple of my friends already and that feels great. Somehow supporting and trying to figure out what might be the path for my friends inspire me in my own life too. I feel great. If any of you have that same problem (it seems to be more common than I thought), let me know, let´s figure out something together! Only sky is the limit (unless you want to be a pilot or something) if you really dream about something. And it doesn´t need to be anything big. It could even be a hobby that you enjoy that brings value in your life. That makes you happy and balance the stressing work life. Or maybe you don´t work and don´t have hobbies and feel like you don´t have anything special in your life. I suggest you try things that even little makes you feel worth trying for. Maybe you will be good at it, or maybe you don´t. At least you tried, figured you don´t like it, or maybe you do like it and enjoy doing it. It doesn´t matter how good you are doing something, if it is the thing that feels well.. being your thing. So dear darkling, just try and learn and enjoy life.

Even my hair has a story. Well, mostly it´s orange/yellow because of the autumn and my love for it. But it also represent my inspiration and bubbly feeling for the future, and even how I feel today. All the excitement, all the inspiration, all the happiness. I feel bright and and very pleased. That is so rare to me that I want to fully enjoy this. And I want to show it and share it with others.  I have gone such a rough path, lots of pain, lots of tears, lots of fear and letdowns. Still, I want to always be positive, reach my dreams, be the best friend I can be and inspire others. I want to be the person that I admire myself. Because you are the most important person in your life. You are the one that make the changes, you are the one that make the decisions, your are the one that is your own best friend. You need to enjoy your own company, love yourself and just be proudly, you. No one else can do that for you. They can help and support, but you are the one living YOUR life. You deserve the best. And by best I mean the quality, the value and being safe. And by that I mean little things in life that makes your whole life. Meaningful moments turns to memories you cherish your whole life. Happy and hard moments change you, you learn, it will shape you to be the person who you are today. It´s okey to feel sad, angry and all those that we seems to see negative. But remember to do shadow work. Accept your feelings, work with them and learn about yourself.

So, the conclusion for my rant this time, go for it, be you, do your thing. If you are scared, let me say, so am I. Don´t let the fear be in your way. You can´t be brave unless you are afraid (like it´s said in Lion King). And also, take care for yourself. It seems to be a thing that seem so easy and simple but we tend to forget that. I started to do some exercise again, I smoke a lot less and eat a lot healthier. I feel way better. Because of that I need less sleep than I normally do (I sleep like 9-12 hours per day).

Today I am doing some photoshop editing, some school stuff and maybe doing some shadow work with a friend that truly needs it. I hope it helps and make things seem more clear (to me and my friend). Myself, hmm.. I have some anger issues. I don´t deal with my anger, I hide it under bitterness. And that´s not good. So I need to work with that. I can´t wait to see what else hides in the shadows of my mind.

28 days witchy challenge! Day 1- Meet the Witch

$

Here is some challenge for you to do with me! I will post about my own progress while I am doing it. Find yourself as a witch!

DAY 1 - Take time out of your day to think about, write about, or draw what your witchy self looks like. What they are into. Their favorite witchy activity. Any details you can possibly think of.

This took me 2 hours to make but it was really fun! I think I am gonna do this for my witchy type posts or something too. But basically I just love everything witchy related and the aesthetic. If you start to do this challenge, let me know so I can see what things you do trough this challenge!

DAY 2 - Take the day to meditate. It can be about anything or nothing at all. Let your mind wonder and do it’s thing. Journal about it and let things come to you.

DAY 3 - BUY SOMETHING WITCHY! This challenge is all about self-care for you and your witchy self, so it can be as simple as spending a dollar at the dollar store or buying something elaborate online. If there is no way you can buy something, try to find something. For example, go to the woods/Park and try to find a mushroom for an offering.

DAY 4 - Piggy backing off of day 3, MAKE SOMETHING JUST FOR YOU AND YOUR CRAFT. Like all of these days, it can be something big or small. You can make a set of runes or maybe make yourself a picture for your alter. Just make it for YOU!

DAY 5 - Watch or listen to something witchy. Charmed, Practical Magic, listen to some witchy music, anything!

DAY 6 - Spend some time in nature! Whether it is sitting on your lawn or taking a hike, or even a walk through the park, just take time to appreciate nature and Mother Earth and all she had given us.

DAY 7 - Let an entire candle burn. I know this may sounds silly to some of you, but I am the type of person that struggles with this (unless doing a specific spell). So, just sit with your candle and watch it burn. Feel free to multitask while doing this. Just try to focus on it now and again. It can be a birthday candle or a very large candle, whatever works for you.

DAY 8 - Make a special cup of tea. If you’re not a tea drinker, try a different kind or hot coco or coffee. When making, focus in your intent. When drinking, focus on all the different flavors you taste and sensations you feel.

DAY 9 - Journal about the elements and what they mean to you.

DAY 10 - Make a list of new worst things you can try. It can be anything like talking more walks or a new spell!

DAY 11 - Journal about your deities/higher power. What they mean to you. If you don’t have any, then try to journal about the energies around you. What you feel and the power.

DAY 12 - Piggy backing off of day 12, write down/find a new way you can honor your deities or energies that you journaled about. And if it’s possible, do it! It can be anything from a leaf you found to an elaborate meal. It can be simply praying.

DAY 13 - BATH OR SHOWER MAGIC! This is pretty self-explanatory, but try to just take some time and take a magical bath or shower. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, or it can! Try to just focus your intent and maybe try a shower or bath meditation. There are a ton of different things here on Tumblr, so get creative!

DAY 14 - Spell Jar!! There are a TON of spell jars on Tumblr and all over the internet. You can use those or make your own! They are very easy and great if you’re low on spoons!

DAY 15 - Cook! If you aren’t able to cook due to physical reasons, or even lack of time, then try to eat something special. Regardless, cook or at least eat something that inspires you or harnesses your intent.

DAY 16 - PRAYER! This is pretty self-explanatory, but try to honor and show your intent. Ask even, for guidance, hope, strength, whatever!

DAY 17 - Sky watching! You can watch the Moon and stars or just the clouds go by.

DAY 18 - Journal about what magick means to you. Go into as much detail as possible.

DAY 19 - SIGILS! Make your own sigil! Focus your intent and be creative! If there is no way you can come up with your own, then feel free to use one from the internet.

DAY 20 - Alter time!!! Try to redecorate your alter! If you are in the broom closet, then maybe draw one!

DAY 21 - Journal about ways you can, from now on, nurture yourself. Whether it’s teas, baths, putting on makeup, whatever! Make lists or just woke about the things you want to do!

DAY 22 - Worry Stone! You can find one or make one or but one, it’s totally up to you! Which brings us toooooooooooo……

DAY 23 - Cleanse and charge your items!! There are umpteen different ways you can cleanse and charge your items, just pick one! Please make sure that however you cleanse and charge your items, it is safe for them.

DAY 24 - PLANTS! Take care of your plants, harvest a plant, buy a plant, even take some time to talk with your plants!

DAY 25 - SCAVENGER HUNT! No, not literally. But, go find something that nature has given you. A mushroom, a leaf, anything! Place it on your alter and honor it! By honoring it, you honor Mother Nature and all that she has created. Including you!

DAY 26 - Do a glamour!! This can be anything from enchanting your chapstick to make you feel loved or carrying a self-love charm bag. Get creative with it! Try to make your intent focus on love from yourself or self-confidence!

DAY 27 -MAKE YOUR OWN SPELL! Literally, just have fun with this. Use your alter, use your journal entries and the internet and books! Get creative! Focus your intent and be specific! It can be low spoons or high spoons. Whatever works for you!

DAY 28 - MEDITATE! Meditate about the past 28 days and all the work you’ve done! Think and focus on your craft and all the self-care you have worked for!

I moved! Living room and life situation

$

So.. life happened and I moved. By myself. Just me (and my 3 cats, rip Minni). Oh my Goddess, this is still so weird. It has been a month and I feel super weird still. I have never been just by myself, it is a big learning curve. When I moved I realized how much  stuff I actually own. Somehow almost everything has fitted here. I got a fleamarket table for 2 weeks (to get started) and I am gonna get rid of a lot of stuff, phew.

First I slept with the air mattress that I got from my friend.. but it got broken so I got second hand mattress. I am sorry for the quality of the pictures, I took them with my phone when it was dark (mostly) because I forgot to vlog and take pictures when it was bright outside.

I would really love to be a minimalism person, but I think I can´t never achieve that. Little part of me still hopes that it can happen but oh well.. maybe you should never say never. Like the marriage I had. I thought we would never break up. Things happen. It´s still rough, I keep myself busy and try not to think about it. But real world is still there. Trying to figure out who I am and what I want in life is super big thing for me. I want to achieve a lot this year. New changes are still coming. First of all I want to be single the whole year. Let´s see how that will go. I have never been single longer than few months.

I have this image in my head how I want my life to be now and in the future. I feel that I am changing. My apartment look is even gonna change. You can see everything is basically black right. Well, in the future everything is going to be full of color. Gosh, I love my idea of bohemian, colorful, different kind of home.. which is still me. Just different side of me. You guys are gonna see so much decoration stuff in my blog.

Awesome wallcloth is second hand (got it from Milla).

Pink time! I chose pink to be the first color in the new home. I am super happy about the results I had with the paint.

And here is the situation today. A lot of stuff is already find their place and This is starting to look like a home. You can also see a little kitchen project, the chair is gonna be the same pink as the table. I really wish I will find a new tv soon. If you have one that you want to get rid of, let me know.

I also made a new look for a foot stool that is also second hand. I just love the fabric. I found it on Eurokangas, it costed me 11 euros and I still have left overs, don´t know what to do with them tho. Ideas? Pillows, tablecloth, or what?

But yeah, back in business with the blog, I have a lot of new stuff for you guys, can´t wait!

  • Sunsets more brilliant than anywhere else in the world.
  • Lightning storms that put the fear of the gods in your heart and fire in your soul.
  • Saying hello to the lizards on your front porch.
  • Tumbleweeds.
  • Coyote eyes glistening in headlights and knowing it’s time to turn back.
  • Old tribal legends told around a campfire that your rational mind says can’t be real, but deep down in your heart you know they are.
  • Flash floods that kill.
  • The overwhelming soothingness of creosote smell.
  • Cold mornings when snow caps the mountains and clouds hang too low.
  • Hawks sitting on lampposts just before the lights come on.
  • Abandoned hogans and gas stations.
  • Sandstone in more colors than you ever imagined could be possible.
  • Bats.

  • The constant, oppressive, awesome, comforting, devastating reminder that this desert mother could kill you in a moment and it is only by chance and willpower that we survive here.

  • Desert - Using and utilizing the desert environment. Lots of work with hardier plants such as Cacti or Tumbleweeds. Use of the moon, desert earth, fire, rare water (especially rainwater), wind, local plants and herbs, as well as animals/creatures of the desert such as snakes, spiders, scorpions, and so on.

Red Dirt between your toes. Becoming energised under the blistering heat of the summer sun. Substituting rainwater in spells for 10 months of the year and then forgetting to stock up when it does actually rain. So, much, eucalyptus. And tea tree. And lemon myrtle. Wandering through scrubland and feeling like you’ve hit gold when you discover a small rockpool. Hanging out in your garden in the morning with the birds who flock to your birdbath. Becoming intimately familiar with both the destructive and cleansing powers of fire.

Desert Witch is a witch who lives in the desert, enjoys the natural desert scenery, uses desert plants, bones, sand in their practice, collects desert rocks, and befriend desert animals such as snakes, lizards, and scorpions. They also tend to use the elements of Wind and Fire as well as Earth in their practice. They normally worship desert deities and study desert lore in their area.

To me, this has been very interesting witch type and I really liked to do the research on it. I really like the desert vibes and everything in it. Sadly there isn´t anything similar here in Finland. But I have my plants and that is good for me now. I wil definately keep doing research on this topic. You may see more today´s outfits and decor about it!

Desert Witch things to do

1. Write affirmations into sand and let the wind destroy them with time

2. Lots of sun powered magick, you could even develop a ‘drawing down the sun’

3. Succulent gardens using life giving water as offerings or leave out water bowls for whatever wandering spirits need a drink

4. Become familiar with desert dwelling spirits and myths

5. Create rock mandalas for meditation or rock protective circles for sacred space

6. Make use of empty space at night to integrate constellations into your practice

Few interview takes:

"I would say that is a more harsh road than witches who do not live in the desert. While resources can still be abundant, we have to be conservative with our regents and things gathered from the outside world. Learning to trust, respect and understand the earth out here is much more vital and challenging as it seem to bite back with every step you take. The vibrations in the sands and rock are lower and therefore trickier to tap into. But the labor is worth it. When we are rewarded, it seems to be even more fruitful than lust farmland. When you´re actually tapped into the energy, you can feel her wanting to work with you, creating a give and take. I feel it look a lot like a monk sitting under a waterfall for training. Except it´s  constant sun instead of water."

"I use water in my practice and to me people think it can be though to use water in my practice because of living in the desert, no sea water, little rain water but I use tap water. I think most witches would be "appalled" because it´s tap water with all the chemicals and such but we have to use what we got. On the other hand I´m lucky that my tap water comes straight from a well so it´s straight from the earth."

"To be connect closer to the desert I have tools, decor mostly from desert areas. My besom  and wands are made of forward items around here. Holders, chalice, offering plates/cups, bell, stones, decor, candles, etc, I get from India."

"My tools are fairly normal things for a witch to have... But I do try to only use things that are found in my area. For example I smudge with desert sage and palo Verde instead of the typical white sage and palo Santo. I do tend to stay on the sun side of icons as well. My altar plaque is a sun. My mask is sun themed. My athame has a gold handle."

"Well the tools that I actively use are crystals, my copper mug (which I´m planning on using it as a cauldron tpye of device), paint and paintbrushes here and there, candles (which I just started to use). I do have a couple chalices and a bell but I don´t really use them."

"I´m originally from Indiana. So far from the desert. I met my now husband in Indiana and when we first started dating he told me he planned to move to Phoenix by the end of the year. I´ve always been more or warm weather person and Indiana was far from the perfect spot to me so I moved with him.

In Indiana, I was an elder of a large pagan group. When I moved to Phoenix I decided to find a smaller group to hone in my skills. At first, my magic almost flatlined. But the more I got out to see nature in the desert, the more enthralled I became with everything. The fact that so much lives on so little was really inspiring to me. I also started to connect to the history of the land and the natives that called it home before I did.
When I started to put effort in these areas, new doors opened up for me. I felt the earth embrace my presence on her. Which I never felt before in Indiana. (not saying it´s not possible) but after making connections to native shamans here, I´ve really learned the benefits of walking harsh land like this."

"My favorite thing about the desert is the rock formations and structures."

Desert Magic - Solar Cleansing Spell (found on Tumblr)

What you need:
A clear and sunny day (note: this spell is designed for those living in a desert. If you do not, a day with a high UV index will work. weather websites will tell you the UV index for your area for the day)
a place to lie or sit comfortably in the sunlight (be safe; wear sunscreen as this can take some time)
What you do:
Get yourself into a comfortable position lying down or sitting in the sunlight. Close your eyes and feel the sun’s intense energy on your skin.

The sun is harsh and anything blocking its light casts long and obvious shadows. Focus on the shadows within you if you know them, or just envision a tree made of shadow, roots reaching far down and branches tall, blocking the light and natural energy flow.

Focus on the overwhelming energy and light outside of your body and bring it inwards, watching it burn away the shadows leaving nothing but raw sunlight across a flat plane. Feel the heat of the sun on your skin burn away any shadows creating chains on you in this realm. Sit/lay there until you feel that any spiritual, emotional, and magical gunk has been burnt away.

Options/variations
This is easily modified to break any spells cast on you and to reveal hidden truths. It can also be modified to use for banishing where instead of focusing the energy to burn away things clinging to you, you direct the pure solar energy to burn away and destroy the thing you want banished.

For more intense cleansings I like to incorporate creosote aroma either by burning it or via oil aromas to help strengthen the initial cleanse

Magickal properties of desert rain water

Spring is fast approaching and I have been seeing a lot of posts about magickal correspondences such as flowers and trees that are not easily found in the desert especially water.

In other parts of the world rain water is easily accessible because it just rains, almost on cue. In the desert, rain is rare and usually each storm is months apart. This makes it very special in witchcraft.

Rain water in general is used for purification, protection, and energy.

Desert rain is a gift that quenches the earth’s thirst and provides life for the wild life that has gone without for probably months at a time.

Dessert rain can come both peacefully and with awesome storms and immense power.

Desert witch tip
Use the spines of a cactus for protection spells and curse work.

Desert witch tip 2
Grow aloe plants in your home for peaceful energy and protection. It also gives good luck to have it in your kitchen.

Dreams are illustrations... from the book your soul is writing about you.

-Marsha Norman

Dream - (A possible variation of Hedge) Mindful and internal magickal practice mainly based from interpreting dreams and/or engaging in lucid dreaming. Those who intensify as this may “de-code” symbols and messages in the dream world similar to how one would use a divination technique.

Let´s get real here. I need a lot of sleep. Like a LOT. I also used to keep dream journal when I was a kid and now a days I sometimes write little novels about my dreams. I also could control my dreams, realized when I am dreaming and say "wake up" to myself while having a nightmare. Lucid dreaming can be very exiting experience and you can learn to do it. If you have trouble sleeping, you might try dream meditation tapes. Those whale sounds or rain kind. I have never tried but I could some day, that would be a new thing. I also want to try to put stuff (like crystals that helps you sleep or see certain dreams) under my pillow again and make some dream tea´s.  Dreams  and dreaming can be an empowering and energy giving thing. To me, it definitely is. Let´s meet in a dream.

What kind of dreams do you have?

What you might need (I need 3 cats in my bed)
 -a dream journal
-amethyst, howlite, or other calming crystals
-a solid bedtime yoga routine (it´s nice to go to sleep after a workout, I sleep a lot better)

-all the pillows you have (I want lots of pillows from my housewarming party)
-glowing ceiling stars (always wanted them)
-bedtime snacks
-a nightlight
- moon water

-calming lotions
-the fluffiest socks
- a dream interpretation book.. or as many as you need is needed.
- sleep sachets

-dream meditation tape
-tea
-melatonin
-lavender

Here is a list of few things you can put under there.

-Lapis lazuli  for awareness of your dreams, and vividness of those dreams.
-Clear quartz  to wake up with more energy, after you awake from your sleep.
-Bayleaf  in order to have more prophetic dreams.
-Chamomile  in order to promote relaxation, and good  dreams.
-Rose petals  in order to bring love into your waking life.
-Peppermint  in order to promote relaxation, and vivid dreams.
-Lavender  in order to promote calm, and in order for you to sleep well.
-Anise  in order to prevent nightmares.
-Rosemary  in order to prevent nightmares, and to bring deep sleep.
-Garlic  in order to promote sleep well.
-You can put a blade of grass, or a leaf underneath your pillow to promote growth, and change in your waking life.
-Money for wealth, and prosperity in your waking life.
-You can put a picture of someone underneath your pillow in order to connect with them better.
-You can put the name of someone underneath your pillow in order to connect with them better.
-You can put all manner of sigil underneath your pillow in order to get the effect of that Sigil into your dreams, and waking life.

Sweet Dreams Sachet

You will need

• a small pouch/bag/jar/container
• amethyst
• rose quartz
• sugar (for extra sweetness)
• basil leaves (to banish those bad dreams)

First cleanse the stones of any energy they had attained. Then  place them both in small pouch and sprinkle sugar and basil over them. As you drew the strings on the pouch, say a this spell or make your own.

“ Dreams be sweet,
dreams be kind,
during this rest, give me peace of mind”

Repeat until intent had been made clear, then place it under the pillow inside of the pillow case.

Dream witch tips

-Always cleanse yourself after a nightmare. Dreams manifest energy so get rid of those negative energies and use extra self care the next day. Your mind and spirit will thank you 🕉
**For cleansing after a nightmare you may use lemon, thyme, and lavender water infusion, you can drink it or add it to a bath

-Place amethyst and scolecite under your pillow or wear them as an amulet to induce lucid dreaming and peaceful astral projection

-Trouble sleeping lately? Having anxious or unclear dreams?
Open the window closest to your bed, and shake out your covers.
Completely changing your bedding is great, but I know it takes a lot of spoons to do that.
Shake your covers, beat your pillows, beat and brush off crumbs from your sheet.
This should clear up stagnant energy from your sleeping space and clear up your head!

-“Place lavender under your pillow while thinking of your wish. Do this just prior to retiring for the night. In the morning, if you have dreamt of anything relating to your wish, it will come true. However, if you did not have dreams, or if they were unconnected with your wish, it will not manifest”
~ Scott Cunningham’s encyclopedia of magical herbs

-An obsidian and amethyst combo does wonders in warding against nightmares and ensuring peaceful dreams

-Sea sand is amazing for dream work. Keep a jar of sea sand (dream dust) next to your bed to protect against nightmares and help guide your dreams
**add rosemary to help remember your dreams
*** add citrine for an extra anti-nightmare boost

-Herb sachets hung above your bed (request herb sachet recipes from me if you’re interested).

-Hang Dry herbs upside down in your bedroom (Lavender helps for anxiety and depression… it is very calming or Mugwort for dreams. Mugwort is very invasive, you can find it growing everywhere).

-Herbs placed inside your pillow sheet (Mugwort leaves inside to active lucid dreams).

-Setup an Altar near your bed: add elements of earth, fire, water and air. You can also use your windowsill as an altar.

-Place Black Tourmaline under your bed: shields you energetically by taking the electromagnetic frequencies, and instead of absorbing them, tourmaline changes, redirects, cleanses, and purifies the energy. This is how it handles negativity, even energies of psychic attack too!

-Place Sigil writings or powders for protection and restful beauty sleep under your mattress.

-Keep a dream journal under your pillow! Dreams can help us get a glimpse into our subconscious and the more dreams you write the easier it becomes for you to remember them.

-Unless you are allergic, sleep with the window halfway open or cracked to let good energy move around and circulate in your room and keep skin hydrated during the night.

-Drink herbal tea before bed each night. (Request free herbal tea recipes from me if interested) Mugwort tea is great to have in the evening before bed to reach high levels of lucid dreaming

-Smoking Herbs before bed is great as well. Book for further reading: Smoke Plants Of North America by M.R. Ross. (Request free Smoke Blend recipes from me if interested). With reverence, Rosemary Milk

Earth - Specifically centered on the element of Earth; grounding exercises, rock/soil collecting, strong appreciation of the natural world, creating and using symbols associated with earth

Similar to Kitchen and Green Witch.

The Earth element is the one most closely linked with our physical world, and the densest of all the elements. It is the foundation on which the other elements, and is a receptive energy, helping us to accept responsibility and bringing to our attention limitations in our makeup. It is represented in the forms of burying objects in the earth, herbalism, and making images out of wood or stone. Spells that benefit from the element are business-related spells, fertility-related spells, prosperity-related spells, and stability-related spells.

You might be a Earth Witch if you...

-feel deep connection with nature
-have great collection of herbs and essential oils
-you love walks and foraging
-you attract animals and insects
-you work with Earth element
-you live in harmony and rhythm of the nature
-have green and healthy diet
-you have a herbal journal of some kind or any nature related journal
-you are obsessed learning everything about nature

Earth witch gets energy from trees, crystals and animals. Earth witches abilities are protection, strength, healing and wealth. Their strengths are being grounded, logical and hard working. They love dirt in their hands while doing gardening or their feet while walking in nature bare foot. They enjoy everything related to earth and nature. They are good with animals and have obsession with herbs knowledge and essential oils. Earth witches surround them with plants and like to use green as their favorite color.. in basically everything, like in clothing and their decor. They may have a some kind of collection of rocks and crystals.

Even when I was a kid, I was fascinated by nature and everything in it. I walked in forests for hours and could just spend time watching trees and collecting rocks. It was a sad day when my mom threw away my rock collection. I still love rocks, but crystals have become maybe more important in these past few years. I love to do grounding, my head is always in the clouds (read my Air witch post), so it is very important to come down from the clouds and just be grounded. It even makes me think more clearly, helps me make better decisions even. I love everything green, I would loooove to have more plants in my apartment, but sadly it is just too difficult, my cat´s keep eating the plants and only room I can have plants, the sun brights too brightly and the room is very hot. But I try my best to have even something here. What is your favorite thing about nature? What you like to do the most in nature? I am going camping next week, can´t freaking wait, eek!! There is probably coming a post about it, so.. exited about that too!

How to connect with nature

Make contact with the earth. Take a walk in the grass barefoot, hug a tree, plant something with your bare hands, meditate on the dirt.

Have indoor plants. Not only do they freshen the air around you, but each plant brings it own unique benefits as well, such as mood boosters.

Open your window and blinds.  Breathe in the fresh air and take in your outdoor surroundings.

If possible, do what you do indoors, outdoors! Even if you’re just sitting on a patio, you can still enjoy the benefits of the outdoors while doing what you need to do.

Collect outdoor elements. Often I see witches decorate their altar with outdoor elements. This is a simple and effective way to better your connection with nature.

Grounding

If you can, create a relaxing environment for yourself. Light a candle, shift position, stretch, get in some pajamas, set yourself up to relax.

Feel your energy pool with each exhale. Let it graze the surface of your skin. Let it accumulate.

Feel the ground beneath you. Where are you? Are you sitting with your legs crossed on a grassy hill? Are you stretched out in an armchair? Are you lying in bed? Are you on a train or in a car?

Wherever you are, beneath the floor is soil. There are roots clinging to the earth, there are plants finding peace and solace beneath the ground. Picture a plant you love sprouting in the very place you sit. Is it a flower? An herb? A tree?

Take another deep breath, keep going, feel the air in your lungs.

You are surrounded by the atmosphere. A whole bunch of gases are protecting you from anything spooky that might be out in space. You are safe here. You are safe.

Remember that wherever you are, you are on the Earth. You are a part of the world. Life thrives above, beneath, and all around you. You are alive.

You are here, wherever you are. You are not in any imminent danger. Maybe you’re not okay right now, maybe you don’t feel relaxed and safe, but you are alive. Despite everything, you exist, you are here with everybody else.

Everything will be okay.

Take a few more deep breaths.

Keep going until you feel a bit better. Go get a glass of cold water, if you can. Try to grab a snack if you’re hungry. Take a shower, even. Whatever you need to do to take care of yourself.

Eclectic Witch
An individual approach that picks and chooses from many different traditions and creates a personalized form of witchcraft that meets their individual needs and abilities. They do not follow a particular religion or tradition, but study and learn from many different systems and use what works best for them. Many Eclectic Witches refer to themselves as Solitary Practioners, Sorcerors, Hedge Witches, Green, White, and Grey Witches. Some consider themselves Wicca, as long as the Rede is adhered to, the Earth and the Universe revered. One main complaint made against the Eclectic Witch is that they are not true Wiccans because they build a taylor-made religion or tradition for themselves from the ground up rather than following an established or correct form of Wicca. Their minds remain open and are receptive to knowledge, ideas, beliefs and methods that others practice. They adapt well to different situations and create their own paths by what they believe to be true and right at that time in their life (simply put – they don’t follow rules). They like to explore and make their own mistakes and take from experiences in turn creating their own rules and traditions. It’s why you can bring 2 Eclectic Witches into a room yet they are totally different in the way they practise, live, and believe as they are all different in some way.

I am an Eclectic Witch. I have always been, it´s clearly my thing. But because I am also Wiccan, I kind of make my own rules. I don´t like people to say what I need to do so I decide it myself. And I am that kind of person who likes little bit this and that so.. this fit me. So maybe I make this post about in general witchy things because being eclectic means you are basically little bit of every witch type.

Side note: I am more of a pagan witch now a days, I believe in Finnish old faith/belief.  I made this post like a year ago, oh how things have changed in that time. I still like a lot of things, but I have been more focused on northern beliefs, specially in Finnish. So.. still kinda eclectic.

  • Are you an Eclectic Witch? You are a little bit of everything. This also means that you have a hard time making up your mind on some matters because you find interest in everything. You tend to fall hard in love. You probably could be/study anything!

Witchery Tips

-A quartz stone near the oven makes your food taste better.

-Get a lunar calendar to stay up-to-date with moon cycles.

-A full moon increases extrasensory perception and so is the perfect time for psychic spells, rituals or potions.

-Aphrodisiacs should always be prepared during the waxing moon.

-Trust your instincts.

-Always make your intent clear during a spell.

-Sage can smell like weed sometimes, be careful of that.

-Peach and avocado pits ward off negativity.

-Place rosehips in your wallet to attract prosperity.

-Use honey to sweeten the outcomes of your spells.

-Self-care is witchcraft. Baths are literal and metaphorical cleansing rituals. Drawing are like complex sigils to clear your mind and calm you down.

For E there were also these 2 types, but I think that they are well explained in these already, but I still wanted to mention them, although I am not going to make different post about them.
